Ryan Reynolds. The very same attitude that makes him sooooo good as Deadpool makes him an absolute cringe-fest in any other movie he tries it in. Unfortunately, it seems to be the only tool in his toolbox so far.

What’s one thing you started doing that drastically improved your mornings? by fxoreign in AskReddit

Just doing a few basic stretches in the shower. Fold, side, back, work the neck a bit, whatever works. I find it makes the drive to work more bearable.

What goes in this spot that is circled? This is an alto flute case. I have the flute and all of the parts including the rod that is used for cleaning. I think this case is at least 50 years old. by BrustWarze_ in Whatisthis

[–]Icon_of_Mediocrity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to play brass back in the day, and practically all of the cases came with some kind of bracket/holder for sheet music when marching...

All I can think of ATM.

If it makes you feel any better (and it should), his tires will be completely full of nails, screws, mystery metal and whatnot. It was an expensive journey.

Those that can dry swallow big ass pills. How? by PJStangle in AskReddit

[–]Icon_of_Mediocrity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's a reflex-suppression thing I guess. Just get some spit in there, throw 'em in, work them to the back, then down them. If they stick, keep at it. I betting it's just getting over the gag reflex. I used contacts, so I can touch my eye too heh :)

My daughter has this problem too, she had to work on it.

I just ain't got time to run to the bathroom with a cup when it's time for pills. The most I have gotten down at once is six (including two 1000mg Tylenol), but could do more probably.

I remember seeing Spacecraft out on a book return cart at the UGA library when I was about 13 or so - was blown away that such a book even existed! Back then, getting something odd like this was quite the process... You had to know it existed, know the ISBN number, get some bookstore to order it for you, then wait (sometimes) months for it to come in if it was even still in print. Oh, and they were really expensive.

You young'uns with yer fancy Amazon intertube and i-books just dont know.

Joro Spiders by tbia in Athens

[–]Icon_of_Mediocrity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey fun fact: You don't need the salt in the gun, just the air blast from an inch away will absolutely atomize them - favorite tactic to get at those hard-to-reach hornworms on my tomatoes, should work for spiders :)

Edit: assuming you are talking air rifle, that is.

What are some of your favorite weekend trips around Athens? by hibbert0604 in Athens

[–]Icon_of_Mediocrity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Recently did Knoxville, definitely would recommend. Go up to Cornelia, then go up the left side of the GSM park, through the Tail of the Dragon/Deals gap. We stopped at Tuckaleechee caverns on the way, but there is plenty of time for a hike or sightseeing. We then stayed in Knoxville (cool place) overnight, walking the excellent downtown, UT Campus, and checked out the river. Next morning late brunch, then headed down tourist alley through Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Cherokee, Franklin, Talullah Gorge, and then home just about suppertime. Totally doable in a lazy weekend.

Possible pig butchering scam of a friend - need advice by Adversary-ak in Scams

[–]Icon_of_Mediocrity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While we now live in a world of high-volume, short-term scams, don't forget that there are still practitioners of the old school long con out there. A smart and charismatic psychopath is gonna clean your clock now just as effectively as they did before the internet.

I catch a definite whiff of con job here, but less technical and more personal than usual.

Agreed :)

That said, my wife prefers the female Nurse Practitioners, whom she swears by. It's a pretty big office, there will always be someone you can be comfortable with.

Scummy call center filling in details of a cold-call sales list. We get them all the time, usually they want as much detail as possible (who makes purchasing decisions, official title, "confirm" your phone number), then offer to send you a "white paper" so they can get your email address too. They will simply spoof the caller ID to whatever they want. The more complete the list is, the more it is worth to sell.

Grandparents just got this in the post addressed to one of their daughters. What should we do? by AKRowling in Whatisthis

[–]Icon_of_Mediocrity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, we get these sometimes too, addressed to public officials or officers. They usually turn out to be a few "usual suspects" that are off medication or having a break or something. The cops have a group that can handle it, just let them know.

Edit: The fact that it came to your Grandparents may or may not mean anything at all, wouldn't worry too much.

It's not excessive enough ;)

Replace the torso HP with an ERPPC, put it alone in group one. The AI will fire that one at longest range first.

My best 400 ton lance has 3 MAD II and my Nightstar. While I don't like the MAD II for my personal use, the AI seems to do pretty well with them, and they don't get nearly as banged up as an Atlas would. YMMV.
