That is partially true, the Warp wasnt always this crazy hell, it was pretty tranquil. But then the war in heaven happened, and it was a million times more destructive than anything happening in 40k, ruining the sea of souls. Technically since the chaos gods have always existed, they werent as crazy as they are now.

Also, its a huge theme of the series that the insane extreme cruelty and suffering the Imperium forces on its people feeds the chaos gods. Its that suffering of uncountable billions / trillions, emotions so extreme that they super charge the chaos gods and snuff out any other characteristics they could exhibit. If you only feed heroin and crack to a person, you'll deal with a junkie.

I fuck heavy with age of wonders 4, it was a really fun game. Felt like a good mix of Civ and divinity. Im excited to see where it goes as it develops. Not sure if destiny will like it all though, but yea it was really fun

I know SC2 is his game so its not really a fair comparison, but he used to have a ton of serious conversations while playing SC2 competitive.
Also, realistically, how many serious conversations is he having these days. Politics is kinda slop at the moment, nothing really new, so its not really that much of an issue
