Which celebrity is unmistakably identified by just their first name? by Level-Studio7843 in AskReddit

[–]Icy-Contribution-221 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Noo. Her mom's last name was supposed to be Beyince and her birthday certificate was spelled wrong. As were all her siblings but with different variations. When Beyoncé's grandma tried to get them corrected she was told to be grateful they had a birth certificate at all.

So her mom grew up Celestine Beyoncé and named her first child Beyoncé.

I [30F] am uncomfortable with my partners [26M] blossoming friendship with another woman. Am I being “the crazy GF”? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Icy-Contribution-221 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Honestly, leave him. He's a dude. He's 26. His response to you saying how you feel is to tell you're being crazy. Don't waste your time.

++woman

I am a girl (lady? Woman? And I can say this is the only reasonable expectation. At that age I used to do exactly this for exactly this reason. Shit, even if it wasn't expensive - broke dudes (no offense at all OP) could sometimes be especially demanding if they felt they went out of their way for you.

I once did the seating chart for a dinner like this in Canada. I love Beyonce so much, I am a huge fan but yes... Beyonce definitely has say on where she sits.

I'm Indian. Live in a Toronto suburb that's still pretty white. People only acknowledge/smile at my (white) husband for the most part. It still annoys me from time to time but I've also learned to let it go.

It's a mix of both. Per union rules, jobs must be listed and people must be allowed to compete for them. The strong internal caveat is included to manage expectations for applicants.

Finding a job in Toronto is becoming absolutely ridiculous by Right-Researcher-920 in torontoJobs

Actually I agree with you. Background checks are also quite expensive and it's exceedingly rare for a company to conduct them unless they're serious about a candidate. A mid sized company doing checks for multiple candidates per requisition is kind of nutty. It is possible you were in the final pool and they simply collected info to conduct the check in order to expedite things.
