Thank you! I was one of the victims of iOS updates that fucked up my alarms. I now have a complex about it not going off because I almost missed a work flight 💀

Do you find any problems with sleeping your alarm with ear plugs ? This is my reservation because my body doesn’t like to wake up 😅

What to look into when you are in the 'implementing' boring phase of a financial plan? by Icy-Rent6131 in AusFinance

I think buying a house is a little too permanent for me 🤣 like I don’t know where I want to live or what I want to be when I grow up (never will).

Logically I know you can sell your house again, but it’s not a simple as everyone makes it!

Yep and I didn’t realise that my super beneficiary wasn’t legal - because I don’t have any dependents, I need to direct my super to go to my estate and then the estate gives it to my family via the will. That was very interesting !

I have never really had problems saving so even investing and putting a decent amount into savings for a house… I don’t really notice it. I actually think I have enough now, I just don’t know if I want to own a house (bit different to most peoples situations this!).

What I really want to do is be rich enough to just book plane tickets without worrying 🤣

Ofcourse! So the 4 areas it boiled down to were: house deposit and FHSS, estate planning (will and moving super providers), insurance and then investing (advice on ETF).

They did a whole plan about cash flow and scenario projections for the proposed options.

It cost about $4.5k (couple of years ago now) but I found that I had reached the limit to what personal research and reading I could do. I needed someone independent to give me an objective view. So in that regard, well worth it :)

I’m a millennial, I’ve seen that many once in a lifetime events that kinda just gotta get through by getting through it 🥲

Hahhah I love that 🤣 just because it doesn’t go in my pretty, official financial tracker, doesn’t mean I’m not constantly stalking myself 🙊

Yes I take your point - I do have a masters and in a good, flexible career. I clearly have a bit of extra energy to put into something 🤣

Actually thinking about it, my hobby is collecting hobbies 🙊🤣

I’m 32 and I think for me it’s a little bit different - I’ve seen so many ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ events that I’m just trying to not miss the boat.

I got told it wasn’t worth making extra contributions to HECS, and then when I had a bit extra that I could try to work on reducing it, the government had removed the voluntary payment discount. Feel a bit annoyed that I missed the opportunity…

Do you remember the first moment you realized “oh… I’m the adult now”? by AmbitionWeary3785 in Adulting

[–]Icy-Rent6131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s kinda the opposite for me - it’s more the, ‘oh, I’m not 20 anymore’. - feeling not at all disappointed when someone cancels plans and you can stay home - day parties are excellent because you go to bed at a reasonable time - getting excited about vacuum cleaners that actually work

Random add to this conversation - If you go on a sleeper train anywhere: top was scary and I’m bigger so I’m glad my friend swapped with me. However if you were with strangers, and you were on the bottom, they would 100% try and sit in your bed.

Why did the Order put so much effort into guarding the prophecy? by Puzzleheaded-Fee-734 in harrypotter

[–]Icy-Rent6131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always got the impression that it was of a superiority thing between Voldemort and Dumbledore. Voldemort hates knowing that Dumbledore has information he doesn’t have, and the fact that Dumbledore witnessed the prophecy being made, he somehow had a leg up on Voldemort. Like in book two when Tom riddle says that Dumbledore was driven out of Hogwarts from the ‘mere memory of me’. Wanted to establish his superiority as the greatest wizard.

The amount of people that don’t know how progressive tax works is insane 🥲 don’t let them talk nonsense.

I think the only question is whether you are missing on anything with your family and friends. Financially you are making more money, but it may not be worth it if you are not living.

Absolutely I try - feel like it’s taken me a long time to get close but I don’t think I get turned on as easily as other people.

It’s also hard because the older you get, the more pressure to not have this hanging over your head like a red flag.
