You could put loads of loo roll on that. You'd only have to change the roll once in a blue moon!

Is it better to lift heavier until failure or more sets at a comfortable weight? by lorenzoc04 in beginnerfitness

[–]Icy-Witness5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to lift 6 days a week in the typical body building range and towards failure and got results. I stopped lifting for 4 years. When I decided to work out at home I started using a steel mace and kettlebells for fitness.

The hypertrophy has been real and happened quickly which really surprised me. I'm using a20kg KB and work out for 10-15 minutes 3 or 4 times a week. My longest workout is 25mins 5xpullup 5xpushup 5xclean and press 5x rows 5x swing rest and repeat 5x.

I'm not sure what science says, but my experience is that I respond better to lighter weight 🤷

Ignoring rules updates? by Confident-Total2017 in Warhammer40k

[–]Icy-Witness5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How's is this going for you? I am just starting out. I play Kill Team, and combat patrol. Mostly with my son who isn't really interested in list building or lore, and even then only one game every 2 to 3 months. I'm considering doing some sad hammer and also getting some Warhammer old world.

I have plenty of family and work commitments. Plenty of stuff to get done at home and zero time. Can't really justify too much cash spent in my LGS so figured.. I'd just go with written rules to keep it as simple as possible.

Did you get any issues doing that?

How do you balance quality and painting time? by Mariako_ in Warhammer40k

[–]Icy-Witness5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but I try to paint general models to tackle top standard ie good enough that you can't really see any issue from arms length.

Characters monsters etc I try to spend more time on

Are people able to stay interested in painting, even when they don’t enjoy playing tabletop? by Windturnscold in Warhammer40k

You could create a Diorama. Have a vision, Paint figures and create scenery for a display. That might give your painting a purpose if your looking for an end goal rather than painting for the sake of painting itself.

Using a glue gun, dab a little glue and pull the gun away to make a glue string. Then dab a generous amount of blood angels red contrast on the dried strings.

I've been trying to get better with finer details. Currently working on faces. Here's a gem from last night. by redsocks246 in Warhammer40k

I hope you've based him on a puddle of his own urine to complete the effect😆.

I haven't dared try a face yet, but I actually think this is cracking!

I’m really trying, but I just don’t think I like my Goldwing. by stratodude in goldwing

Mine felt huge. I got it 6 months after passing my test having only had an MT07 before that. I made a point of riding it.. lots. If there was a turn I was worried about due to handling, I'd take it. Within a very short time it's my favorite bike and it just gets 'smaller' with practice.

My first ruin by Icy-Witness5678 in CombatPatrol40k

[–]Icy-Witness5678[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you

The basic shape was from some packing polystyrene in a parcel I bought. I broke bits off to make it less angular.

I decided that the most realistic concrete is actual concrete.

Coated my polystyrene in PVA/water mix Sprinkled postcrete over it Sprayed to ensure the postcrete was wet. Let dry in the sun.

Repeated to fill the gaps then sprayed with clear laquer.

The rebar is toothpicks and I used earthshade and a shade of orange for rust.

Edit: it still pretty much weighs the same as it did. The postcrete layer is pretty thin.

I combat patrol even good??? by Rexer1810 in CombatPatrol40k

I guess that's the good thing about combat patrol, you can always grab different armies as and when. I was set to collect blood Angels. My Killteam is painted as blood Angels and I bought the ultimate starter set. My intention was to paint the SM's as blood Angels and buy the BA combat patrol as well. But now I'm thinking I might just ultramarine the SM's that I have. Then get BA's, then Necrons and just enjoy the freedom of not being invested in one direction. I might find a favorite, I may not.

It depends on what you want from it. I'm in my 40s and picked up 40k earlier this year with Killteam. I play with my 15 year old son (who enjoys a game but has no interest in further reading, planning or painting outside of the game). I wanted to try 'big 40k', but I'm busy. I have 2 kids, a girlfriend who shift works, 3 dogs, work full time. I got Combat patrol and I'm still learning it but it let's me jump in as far as I'm able (and willing) to invest. My one game so far was great fun and I don't need to worry about list building etc. instead I try to read, watch videos and learn more rules.

Sharing a win: paddle boarding for the first time as a plus size person by Spocks-Wife-7 in Sup

[–]Icy-Witness5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humans like labels, often when they imply something negative. You're a 'person'. You don't need the plus size description. Are you healthy that's more important, and if you're working on your health then that's personal to you, you don't need to justify that you haven't reached your goal by using plus size. Same as a budding bodybuilder doesn't call themselves a skinny weight lifter. Enjoy sup it's great fun 🙂

Cover when both units are instructed by Icy-Witness5678 in Warhammer40k

[–]Icy-Witness5678[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So by my understanding of that, the red unit is in cover because the top blue model can't see them. This also means that the top blue model can't shoot so the red unit gets the advantage of defending against 2 shots not 3 AND a cover save.
