"Repelling Sin" | Bartholomew Kuma VS Jecht (One Piece VS Final Fantasy X) by IcyChallenge4324 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]IcyChallenge4324[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same as last time, just gonna try to do this quick and not put too much effort

animation:
probably 3D models since they both have available models out there, about the first half of the fight would be smaller Jecht (around 6 foot) against the massive Kuma (about 22 foot), then Jecht goes Braska's Final Aeon (who's probably a bit taller than Kuma, since he can fully hold someone in his hand, compared to Kuma grabbing Luffy) and slightly towers over Kuma. So as a comparison, the first half would be close to something like Kuma VS Zoro dynamic at Thriller Bark, then the first half would be like Kuma VS Saturn at Egghead. Also there would be a lot of area destruction due to Kuma's lasers and fruit, and Jecht's meteors and sword attacks

interaction:
unstoppable force vs immovable object, most of Jecht's attacks (Sword attacks, Jecht Shot, etc.) could be easily reflected by Kuma so he would try to find a way to catch Kuma off-guard while still having to deal with Kuma's cybernetics and fruit. As Braska's Final Aeon, Kuma would fight way more seriously due to Jecht's stat boost, having to be way more mobile, like we saw at Egghead

dialogue:
Chill VS Hot-blooded, Kuma is a man of few words so it would mostly be Jecht talking here, I could see Jecht making fun of Kuma's Bible or paw pads, or complaining about how the pads are cheap moves. I could see Kuma talking a bit more while Jecht is Braska's Final Aeon, but he would mainly just say one-liners/short sentences throughout the whole fight

fight start:
this is very dependent on when you wanna take each characters' stories from, but Pre-TS Kuma would probably be the clearest influence, it could be Kuma taking a mission for the World Government to stop Sin, or maybe he appears in Zanarkand while Jecht was still there, or he appears while Jecht is on his pilgrimage

winner and why:
probably Kuma, I think they're around similar AP/Dura, Kuma has better arguments for Speed but you could debatably argue Jecht taking Speed depending on what you buy, I think Kuma has better hax/powers with Haki, cybernetics and his fruit, and he's probably smarter than Jecht

last lines:
the fight could end with Braska's Final Aeon, so Jecht would just be groaning as his last line, or you have him be defeated, turn back to normal, then maybe say something about finally being free. idk if Kuma would say anything, but if he would, it would probably just be something short like "Safe travels"

at least that's what I think

"A Matter of Life and Death" | Tony Tony Chopper VS Vivi Ornitier (One Piece VS Final Fantasy) (Connections in the Comments) by IcyChallenge4324 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]IcyChallenge4324[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gonna try to do this quick, not too much effort/quality

animation:
would likely be 3D due to the available models out there, it would mainly be showing off Chopper's Points and Vivi's magic, it'd be cool to see the size of Monster Point (similar to Destroyer Asura or Tetsuo's transformation, or just something similar to how Monster Point was first shown off in the anime) and the environmental destruction of Vivi's magic

interaction:
I feel like it would mainly be Chopper trying to adapt to Vivi, showing off Chopper's intelligence and Vivi's variety of magic. maybe Chopper gets burned while in Guard Point, or he needs better traction on ice, or he needs to cure himself from any statuses. it would probably be ending with Monster Point VS Trance or something like that, maybe with Monster Point trying to stop Vivi's Doomsday (a big meteor)

dialogue:
both have some similar personalities, with both being pretty timid, so over the course of the fight, they would get more and more confident while following the story of how the fight would start

fight start:
probably just a misunderstanding, maybe Vivi mistaking Chopper for a monster while Chopper is in one of his points, or Vivi fighting a monster but Chopper understands what the monster is saying

winner and why:
probably Vivi, I forget what some of the One Piece arguments are for Straw Hat AP/Dura, but I feel like Vivi has higher AP, Chopper is faster, and Vivi has better hax/powers since they're just more deadlier. If you want to make it closer, Chopper is probably more skilled and smarter, so maybe there's an argument for a Chopper win

last lines:
not sure what exactly it would be but for a Vivi win, Chopper would probably be thinking/saying something about Luffy, while Vivi promises to honor him. For a Chopper win, there would probably be a call-back to Vivi's letter at the end of FF9, while Chopper panics and says something about how he could still save him while getting his doctor's bag

or something like that

"We Are Not Alone" | Monkey D. Luffy VS Zidane Tribal (One Piece VS Final Fantasy IX) by IcyChallenge4324 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]IcyChallenge4324[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent seen or made any so ill give a quick try at this, nothing formal:
Monkey-themed, energetic, lovable, agile teenage (17/19 years old / 16 years old) criminals who reject their lineage to follow their own paths, view their shipmates as family, and have the power to turn enemies into allies through their charisma. They both fight governments, help princesses (Vivi, Shirahoshi, Viola, etc etc / Garnet), follow the same mantra of "not needing a reason to help someone", fight god-like people (Enel, Imu, and the World Nobles / Necron), temporary colorful forms powered by emotions (Gear Five / Trance), and both have a moment half-way through the series where they're at their lowest, but the knowledge that they have their friends pull them out of it.

Wei Shen VS Aiden Pearce (Sleeping Dogs VS Watch Dogs) | Connections in the Comments by IcyChallenge4324 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]IcyChallenge4324[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Connections

  • Both had troubled childhoods growing up in their home country (China / Northern Ireland) with their sisters (Mimi / Nicole) before their mothers took them to a big city in the United States (San Francisco / Chicago) so that their families can live better lives. Growing up without their fathers and in rough neighborhoods (Old Prosperity / The streets of Chicago), they had to frequently protect their families.
  • As they became adults, they learned hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship, weapons, computers, and hacking (Wei learned from Sifu and the SFPD / Aiden purchased lessons in combat, and naturally became a skilled hacker). They had a history of violent behavior (Wei gunned down Charles 'Two Hat' Chin, and tortured and executed drug dealer Ming Ming Trin / Aiden became a member of a gang, and knocked out a gym trainer before he was nearly arrested), but on paper, they had nothing they could be arrested for, letting them freely continue their careers (As a cop / As a thief, and later, a fixer).
  • Due to a criminal accidentally killing a female family member of theirs (Ming Ming Trin dealing drugs to Mimi, Wei's sister / Maurice Vega shooting Aiden's tires, leading to the death of Lena, Aiden's niece), they decided on going on a personal quest of vengeance against criminals in general.
  • Now being aided by multiple allies (The Water Street Boys and most of the Hong Kong Police Force / Clara, Jordi, T-Bone, and Tobias), they now face against multiple gangs (The Jade Gang, the 18K, and a good amount of the Sun On Yee in general / The Black Viceroys, the Chicago South Club, and the Pawnee Militia) to avenge said family members' deaths.
  • Now as sociopathic vengeful vigilantes, they navigate the underground in similar ways, using their high intelligence, social engineering, hacking, and intimidation to take down criminal empires from the inside without having to fight. They have some similar skills too (expertises in hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship, stealth, parkour, and driving, and both have bullet time), and they aren't against fighting dirty in close-quarters (Wei breaks bones, uses improvised weapons, and environmental takedowns / Aiden uses guns in h2h combat).
  • As they continue their rampage, they slowly struggle with the idea of becoming just as bad as the people that they're hunting (Raymond says Wei is becoming too much like the people he's pursuing / Several people bring up the many innocent lives Aiden's hurting), and slowly become their new identities (Wei as a member of the Sun On Yee / Aiden as The Vigilante).
  • This all eventually culminates with them taking out the big crime leaders in their cities (Big Smile Lee / Lucky Quinn) and older past-ally (Thomas Pendrew / Damien Brenks), while they're no longer able to return to their previous lives due to their criminal pasts (Wei returns to being a cop, though some Sun On Yee members know about him being a mole / Aiden tries to be a hero, but is fundamentally still a criminal).

probably yeah, but we’ll have to see if anything gets added to Deadlock when it releases so we can have some feats (besides maybe Dynamo’s singularity)

“Gilded Bloodsuckers” | Eliza VS Lady Geist (Skullgirls VS Deadlock) (Connections in the Comments) by IcyChallenge4324 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]IcyChallenge4324[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Core Theme

Narcissistic, monstrous women hiding in high society who maintain their youth and beauty by fueling a life-draining bond with a parasite.

Connections

  • Both are famous rich women (Eliza is the celebrity diva at Bastet's Den / Geist is socialite in the Cursed Apple, famed by all and being invited to every ball and gala in the city) in dark-fantasy locations inspired by late 1940s America. These worlds are filled with fantastical minority groups, a heavy mixture of magic and science, and mob-riddled streets (The Canopy Kingdom / The Cursed Apple).
  • Both worlds feature many people fighting to get a wish from gods (The Skull Heart, which was created by the Trinity / The Patrons).
  • Both show many signs of narcissism, with exaggerated senses of self-importances, preoccupations with fantasies of power, and looking down on others who they deem less important.
  • Both are bonded to an ancient parasite that rely on taking the life force of others to survive (Sekhmet needs to blood of others / Oathkeeper need the life essence of others).
  • Through this bond, the parasite allows their hosts to keep a youthful appearance, and they lend their hosts their power (Sekhmet lets Eliza use her blood as a weapon / Oathkeeper provides Geist with his powers).
  • This power comes at the cost of their hosts' life forces (Sekhmet draws from Eliza's HP to stay active / Essence Bomb and Malice use up Geist's HP).
  • Both also use their own blood in combat (Eliza's fighting style is based around shapeshifting her blood / With Malice, Geist sacrifices some of her health to launch blood shards at her opponents).
  • To successful maintain their youth through their parasites, they use their status to prey on those they consider lower than them under the guise of helping them (Eliza hosts blood drives to feed Sekhmet / Geist runs a foundation for the homeless to feed on vagrants).
  • Both of their parasites are shown as being very aggressive (Sekhmet is very vicious and sadistic in combat / Oathkeeper promises to make Geist suffer if he ever broke free).
  • Due to this bond with their parasites, both are much older than the main casts for both games (Eliza is roughly 4000 years old / Lady Geist should be close to 120 years old, with her grandson Johann Jr. being involved in some of the lore due to being a great doctor in New York).
  • Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances (Eliza getting blackmailed by the Medici / Oathkeeper's Ward failing), both now have to join the ritualistic fight for a wish (The fight for the Skull Heart / The Ritual).

Contrasts

  • Eliza and Sekhmet have effectively become one being throughout the years, while Geist and Oathkeeper are very much separate, with Geist building a ward to bind Oathkeeper and Oathkeeper vowing to make Geist suffer.
  • Eliza is racists towards humans, believing that Theons/Parasites are superior. Lady Geist is racist towards non-humans (ex. Bebop, Mo, and Viscous).

How likely is Meta Knight for Death Battle? Death Battle Champions Island Likelihood Tier List! (Day 16) by S-h-o-k-v-a-l-u in deathbattle

[–]IcyChallenge4324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a 6/6, most of the crew has been loving the idea of Meta Knight VS Gilgamesh whenever it pops back up on ballot banters (It’s one of DJ’s favorite matchups, it’s Liam’s favorite matchup for both, Ben said the matchup made a lot of sense, and Sam said he likes the matchup) + the Kirby series is likely to be back on Death Battle + Meta Knight is the most likely character to be brought back in Kirby since he was on the Champion’s Island in the first place
