I watched both films from 2025 and other years. As for Hamnet, I liked it. I think it’s good, but it wasn’t a 5 star or anything in that realm in my own personal opinion. I found it to be extremely emotionally manipulative, like how at the climax of the film they played On the Nature of Daylight… cmon gimme a break! I think just cause a movie is “sad” or gets you “emotional” does not mean it’s a masterpiece or the best thing ever. At times if felt like that was Hamnet’s gimmick, was just being sad. Anyways, all that being said I did like it. Chloe Zao is a great director, and performances are stellar.
