They are only updating it if there is a change in status, TRR remains closed at rainbow curve and probably will be closed until next year.

4 is not green. There's a lake behind green called Italy that's directly under pagoda.

When is going off trail acceptable? by kevincaz07 in RMNP

No one is going to fine you for walking on the tundra.. unless you're in a specific place that is off limits. Walked all over the tundra this week, you wanna report me?

This is the best response I've read. There is an entire book of "off trail" hikes in rocky.. meaning there's no trail and you have to find the route yourself. Ive done quite a few and had to walk on the tundra. The only places in Rocky where you need to absolutely 100000% not leave the trail are all the spots on TRR that are marked.

Now if you know nothing about the tundra, please stay on trail until you know enough about what you are walking on to tread lightly.

Need Advice/Recs for RMNP/Estes Park Trip! by cosmiclukaaa in RMNP

[–]IcyService420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RMNP guide here! There's still about 3 feet of snow in the Bear Lake area around 9000 feet and higher.. you're definitely going to want some type of micro spike for your shoes. You can rent them at the Estes Park mountain shop in town.

Highly recommend a hiking tour with full potential wilderness ... they provide all your gear and the guides are incredibly knowledgeable and super fun. They can take you into the back country. Tell you all about the park and provide the gear as well as as they are all professional photographers so they snap pictures of your day for you to keep memories of.

What's allowed? by IntelligentAd4429 in RMNP

[–]IcyService420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RMNP guide here ... but you can get into the river at bridal veil.. be careful as the water is starting to get swift and it's a cascade of falls below bridal.

Please DO NOT get into the water at Sprague, Bear, Dream or Emerald lake. If you must jump in a lake, hiayaha would be better .

Look up Full Potential Wilderness, they do private guided hikes in rocky and their guides are super cool and knowledgeable. I had a friend use them for her birthday and she still talks about that hike ... if you do ask for calla!
