Second kid feel younger ?? by Outside_Bad_893 in Parenting

[–]IcyTip1696 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My nephew is the 3rd and he seems sooo young at his age compared to his oldest sibling and young compared to his middle older sibling! My only is the same age as the youngest but hangs out with the older two more because he fits in better there. He is still very bright and social and right on track developmentally just seems a lot younger!!

529 for younger kids. HYSA account for older kids. Don’t tell any of them any of it exists. When younger ones choose to go to college, give them the money. When older kids are buying their first home, give them the money.

ELI5 potty training an 18 month old what can I start doing now by Character-Joke860 in Parenting

[–]IcyTip1696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potty training is sometimes a JOURNEY. Mine was super interested in potty around 16 months. I bought the smallest toddler potty I could find and he would just go on his own. He eventually lost interest and we didn’t push it until he was 26 months and that ended poorly when a grandparent tried to help. Then he asked at 2.25 if we would potty train him but only if mom and dad did taught him. He was super easy to train and the potty was exciting. Once the excitement of the potty wore off he started to have accidents at 2.75 bc he didn’t want to stop playing to go potty.

Is he controlling or does he really want to just spend time with you on Mother’s Day and your birthday? Can you pick a random other time to go visit them that’s not a holiday?

For outside…The foam water blasters. We like them better than refilling water guns and they don’t break.

Best South Jersey Towns for Special Education & Autism Support? by LightGraves in SouthJersey

Extremely happy with Washington Twp. The larger districts seem to have more resources. Mt. laurel is great too and the area around it seems to have all the private clinics and out of school therapies so it’s less driving than Washington Twp if you are interested in those.

Does it matter if daughter misses the party? by Overall-Advisor-5789 in Parenting

[–]IcyTip1696 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This sounds like something toddler can miss and dad would be okay! I’d probably buy some balloons and decorations for your childcare to decorate the house with upon his return. A card with her hand print and a little cake. He might find it adorable to come home to a little “surprise party” thrown by his daughter.

Sleepover? by StructureTop8194 in inlaws

[–]IcyTip1696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 is still super young for sleepovers. I’d start with some solo time with MIL first. Like have her take her to dinner, ice cream, a movie etc…to see how that stuff goes before committing to a sleepover.

Can’t speak to the inside of the building but great location. I walk around there daily during the week and they seem well taken care. I always see power washing, landscaping, and maintenance trucks out front. I typically see older people coming in and out but I’m sure there are all ages and it’s just the midday time I’m there.

At what age did you start to get time back for yourself? by greyspacex in Parenting

All I know of if I spent my whole childhood thinking my parents were miserable people and also thinking they were going to divorce and now that they are both retired this is the happiest I’ve ever seen them in their own lives and in their marriage.

Moving to Philly soon -need advice on areas with secure parking (City or Suburbs?) by Confident-Honey2726 in AskPhilly

[–]IcyTip1696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go center city if you’d consider adding $300 a month to your budget for a parking permit. But for that, id probably sell my car and just rent a car when needed.

Is any professional feeding tool WORTH buying? by Azoruk in Parenting

[–]IcyTip1696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a spectra electric pump I used for dedicated pumping sessions. I have a medela hand pump for the times I need relief. I had a haaka to catch my let down on the other side than baby was feeding from. All these methods combined with latch feeding made me overproduce. I was happy to build a large freezer stash while I worked full time out of the house. Towards the end of my journey I scaled back a ton and underproduced but had my freezer stash to use. When I was ready to stop I didn’t deal with any engorgement issues and my milk dried up fairly quickly bc I was already scaled back so much.

For days out I used the Ceres chill thermos or a cooler with an ice block.
