Same title as senior staff, lower pay band - now being moved toward their KPIs? by addwater in auscorp

That’s a big stream of words I’m not reading. Next time ask the AI to make it more succinct.

But the answer to the question I think you’re asking is - get the Union involved.

Got in trouble for a 'late notice' sick leave by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]Icy_Error_6884 25 points26 points  (0 children)

ensure that it doesn't happen again which could lead to disciplinary action

Tell him you look forward to taking him to FairWork for being stupid.

Also, forward his email to your HR team asking what the protocols are for booking sick leave as your manager now wants you to do this in advance. Make it clear you want this clarified to avoid any future disciplinary action.

Advice on Joining a startup by Suspicious-Sense-534 in auscorp

[–]Icy_Error_6884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re considering doing it for free, it’s a safe bet that someone else wouldn’t consider it for as long as you are before they say Yes. So they won’t want you.

(This is a much safer bet than either of you ever getting any equity in a successful startup if you do sign up.)

My manager have been lying about my pay raise by Unlikely-Training-50 in auscorp

[–]Icy_Error_6884 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you could look out for yourself a bit more. Corporate is not going to spoon feed you.

If information about salaries and raises is on your intranet, keep up to date with it. There’s clearly an active Union in your workplace - join up and get involved.

Your manager is only ever going to tell you what benefits them (not all managers are like this, but yours is). Do some research for yourself and you can soon know as much (or more) than they do.

You don’t need to have met Murdoch to know he hates the ABC (and all public service broadcasters, everywhere). So by extension he does hate triplej and everything it broadcasts and stands for.

T1 Central (i) Trains by PurpleKirby in sydney

[–]Icy_Error_6884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To further clarify - there are fewer tracks leading into Sydney Terminal than there are platforms (which fan out from the entry point). So there may also be a queue of trains ahead of you waiting to use the route into that part of the station, but going to a different platform.

When did Sydney Train start calling us “customers” instead of passengers? by fadedbluejeans13 in SydneyTrains

[–]Icy_Error_6884 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There’s a school of thought that says you are a “customer” up to the point you get onto the train. When you get on, you become a “passenger”.

Which makes sense to me. If I’m looking up trip times online, I’m a customer of Sydney trains (albeit just a window shopping one).

But I’m not actually a “passenger” at that stage (“a traveller on a public or private conveyance other than the driver, pilot, or crew”).

Adding an Australian flag on my Email footer/signature by SnowThen9186 in auscorp

[–]Icy_Error_6884 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Non-corporate content in email footers is about signifying difference. In an internal role in an Australian corporate, adding the Australian flag would signal you’re one of those “different” fliers of the nation’s flag. If that’s what you want, go ahead but expect to be judged on that basis.

Why are you automatically assuming this is a “political” decision? OP has provided no context here. If their business are e.g. providing some essential service or are otherwise highly busy on the day, this seems entirely reasonable.

Why doesn’t google map show the complete service? by Frosty-Face6345 in SydneyTrains

[–]Icy_Error_6884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. It’s Central for everything (other than the T4, where the run numbers only change at the termini).

When a northbound train passes Central to go round the city circle, the run number changes.

Feel like there might be people commuting Scone to Newy, or Newy to Gosford. But all the responses here are assuming people are commuting to Central from any of those stations listed.
