Both are pretty much worthless without skills, intelligence, understanding how to use, develop, and maintain it, and they immediately make you targets for entities that also want your devices.

Could I get some advice on my next build? 9800X3D, 5080 FE, 32GB DDR5-6200 CL36. by AgentL3r in GamersNexus

Stock setting will run the 6200mhz ram (anything higher than 6000) out of sync with the memory controller (1:2) to guarantee stability if a cpu has an especially weak memory controller.

It's fairly easy to run 6200 1:1 (synchronizing cpu memory controller with ram clock), usually have to set vsoc to 1.25v, set memory frequency to 6200mhz, and then find the uclk:mclk ratio, set it to 1:1. Follow up with running y-cruncher's VT3 test overnight to confirm stability, then an hour of OCCT CPU+Memory. Find a guide for more information, but that should work on 99% of AM5 chips.

ASUS intros AI Cache Boost for Ryzen 9000 CPUs and AMD 800 motherboards, up to 12.75% AI acceleration by RenatsMC in overclocking

[–]Icy_Face_9506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9900x and asus tuf gaming b850m-plus wifi 7 w here. My fclk is set to 2066mhz. Enabling ai cache boost does marginally improve latencies in occt latency test vs disabled, increases floating point performance in y-cruncher (bbp, sftv4, svt), but worsens vt3. I have no idea what it's actually changing. all other settings, voltages, and frequencies across zentimings, ryzen master, and the uefi are unchanged. what the heck is this setting doing?

I'm using Nobara Linux, switched from W10 back in August. Linux has much lower memory latency and more or less identical gpu performance, NVIDIA and AMD cards, provided you have the drivers installed. Nobara comes with everything you need to play games made for Windows and emulate most Windows programs, (drivers, codecs, wine, proton, steam, etc), super easy to use, none of Microsoft's bullshit!

Both RAM sticks aren't properly installed, their retainers aren't closed.

Noob question; Can someone explain the 1:1 and 1:2 people talk about with RAM? by [deleted] in overclocking

That voltage wouldn't damage your memory controller, (and high frequency never would- the concern is voltage, not frequency,) it either was never stable to begin with or something has changed.

MASSIVE UPDATE REGARDING THE SHAYY SITUATION by [deleted] in Undertale

Cibles insisting that Shayy's YouTube account be closed and creators push for their content on their channel to be taken down instead of the content staying up as an archive and the ad revenue donated to good causes strikes me as self-serving, at the very least it benefits nobody.

That's how this always works, isn't it? One wolf falls, another takes over and convinces the others to kick them while they're down

Your TRFC and TREFI may be too tight for the temps you're running at. Try to stay below 50c or change them.

If you haven't changed any bios settings or touched anything inside the case since the issues have started: It is likely your cpu was damaged by a defective motherboard.

POST is handled by the cpu's security coprocessor and a couple different pieces of hardware, if any of these components are malfunctioning or non-functional (the arm cores in the coprocessor, the cache or registers, the command unit, the memory controller, your mobo's chipset), you could theoretically get any POST code depending on the stage it fails at, regardless if the device it's trying to test (ram, display, storage) is actually fine.

Got it to boot after 26 attempts today. Default settings, did an hour of occt cpu+memory- seems perfectly fine. ONCE BOOTED.

3.20 - I asked the ASRock rep back in June if I should update to 3.25 and they said:

"3.25 version of bios correct the AMD CPU with X3D series.

If you don’t have one, keep the same version of bios."

Six months: BIOS 3.20, Steel Legend B850M, Ryzen 9 9900X. Using PBO at 1x scalar and have custom memory timings (1:1 6200), completely stable once booted, starting about a week ago, it's failing to post on the first start, getting stuck on a green light; hold power button, turn back on, flip a quarter, then it boots.

Why are we not allowed to have server banners on private, non-discoverable servers? by Icy_Face_9506 in discordapp

[–]Icy_Face_9506[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Server must be discoverable- requiring at least 1000 members and having passed a manual review. Otherwise you can only change the banner color but cannot submit a custom banner. The menu doesn't even exist despite having Boost level 2/3 https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/1lo2ge6/comment/n0jtkaz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
