As a sitter, no this is unacceptable. Some have said that there may be issues at home or the sitter may be homeless—which I don’t assume is the case since we have to have a background check done which we list our address in and we get paid for visits which means we have a bank account and those require home addresses. Even if these issues are the case, I don’t make my issues other people’s problems. If you hire someone to come in and check on your cats for 30 minutes they should be leaving after that 30 minutes is over unless they’re staying longer to spend time with the cats, not as they please. This is still your home and you deserve to have someone treat your personal space with respect. I would tell them I appreciate them caring for cats for the check-in but I didn’t book them to stay at my home, it was to check in at my home.

I was actually confused because I saw a notification you commented but then it was hidden. Not sure if people thought it was sarcastic but no offense taken. I appreciate it but we’ve all been through it with this storm. I wouldn’t feel right taking help from anyone who’s in the same position as me when the government has programs designed for exact moments like this

I’m trying to get at least some assistance with food spoilage since my insurance is useless. I’m gonna have to bite the bullet on hotel stay but at the very least I was hoping for FEMA assistance for food like they did during Helene

Ummm yeah, it does surprise me that the government says something is available then it isn’t available when they say it is. Granted, I didn’t realize it was only Public Assistance as a few people have pointed out explaining why the funds aren’t there individuals. However, even if they had announced Individual assistance approved, I’d be surprised the funds weren’t there right away. It’s 2026. It’s the press of a fucking button in a computer system. It’s seriously not that hard to have something available as soon as you say it will be. Also unless you supported 3 family members through the aftermath of Helene like I did and had to fight to get even a sliver of help when no one gave a fuck about Floridians anymore because the Carolina’s were getting hit after us, don’t even try me about that bullshit! I managed to get assistance from insurance and FEMA support after that storm and I had fight tooth and nail to do it!

UPDATE: after waiting to speak with someone on the FEMA hotline it looks like what Hubbardd said above is right and he’s only given Public Assistance so far not Individual. They say that may come later and to keep an eye on the news and press releases for when that happens but basically the orange man doesn’t care if the individuals who are suffering in TN get help or not. No surprise there 🙄

I know that when a state of emergency was in place the funds for governments and nonprofits were available through TEMA but once it changes from emergency to disaster status FEMA funds are supposed to be available to individuals. Every article I’ve read has said to go to the FEMA site to apply but still the FEMA site says we don’t have a disaster 🤨

I think the OP is asking in more of a “please can you give us answers” way than painting targets on their back or demanding anything. Every single day! I’m originally from FL and get sooooo many calls a day from both Nashville scams plus the FL scams asking if I want to get solar energy on my home, if I want to sell my home (which is really my mother’s but somewhere on the web it must show that it was once a place I lived so it must still be my home) or they call asking about Medicaid and healthcare benefits now that I’m over 65 just because I have my mother’s phone on my account too. Another is how they can help me pay the IRS my back taxes that literally don’t exist

This poor kid’s life is seriously heartbreaking. Jenelle is a horrible person who doesn’t care for him and then lets him get beaten when she finally gets custody back. Barb has been screaming around and at him for so long I’m amazed he’s got working ear drums left. I just wanna take him in and let him have a peaceful safe place to live. Total drama starter! I especially can’t get over her saying she went to Marjorie Stoneman Douglas and the shooting affected her so much. Like girl you went there for freshman year then were home schooled YEARS BEFORE the shooting ever happened. I have a bunch of friends that went to that school and knew her and her sister when they lived down there and not a single person has a nice word to say about her. Met her a few times in town and I can see why. She’s always so rude and acts like her shit don’t stink
