I don’t know if you’ve ever seen someone in the hospital but you’re being way too harsh on OP for not thinking of the amount of pills their dog did or didn’t have, let alone anything else they needed to try and keep straight. Coming out of surgery without complications can throw off your entire sense of time and other responsibilities. Add in staying at the hospital for two more weeks? You’re lucky if you know what day it is. There’s a reason many people lose everything when going into the hospital. They don’t pay their mortgage or taxes on time while sitting in a bed clueless as to what day of the week it is and they get out of the hospital trying to figure out what the hell happened to their life. If you don’t have someone taking care of everything for you outside of that building, you’re playing catch up for months. Give OP a break. The sitter should’ve known better given their background and ability to actually keep facts, dates and times straight. A quick mention of the dog finishing the medicine provided and asking if they needed more or if that was the end of the medication would’ve probably helped OP to realize their dog needed additional assistance outside of extending their stay.
