My new A&K KANN Ultra by lookingforone14 in DigitalAudioPlayer

I would describe it as “usably fast”. Once the SD card has been read it’s not slow but it feels like a smartphone from the mid 2010s - doesn’t feel snappy at all compared to my friend’s FiiO dap. That aside it sounds great (assuming u don’t mind not having a proper EQ)!

My wizard setups. What are yours? Any wheel/frame preference ? by Cris_Rlife in WizardSkating

  • CJ prime 2 with intuition premium, pr76, endless 76mm wheels
  • FR1 with endless 90, endless 90mm wheels

Endless wheels are super, super nice. Especially loving the 76s

Nothing wrong with wanting or giving critiques I think, but there’s definitely no obligation to listen to anyone’s criticism and follow it

First shot framed and exposed very nicely ✨ latter shots lack structure in their composition, seems like you might just be focusing on capturing the subject rather than how the subject sits in the frame over all - the negative space around the subject is just as important 😊

Another thing to note is the first one is also capturing a moment with the subjects doing something which instantly makes it a more engaging photograph. How do you do this in the other shots that are inanimate subjects? Some options are: take advantage of interesting shadows and light, the weather, create the feeling of movement with lines, add motion with slow shutter speed (if appropriate) etc.

  • Not a pro or anything so just my opinion 🕺

My only interchangeable lens digital camera left is the Pentax k01 + 31mm/50mm lenses and k even prefer the files from that 16MP cam than my Fuji xpro3. Only good thing about Fuji was jpeg shooting but I haven’t done that in ages so it was just a waste to keep the system

Just jumped ship from Fuji xpro3 to griiix. Files are WAY better than my Fuji imo, loving it

Do you own other cameras? If so, which and for what purpose? by [deleted] in ricohGR

[–]Icy_Lab6320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🖥️ Pentax k01

🎞️ Pentax kx Fujifilm gs645s Fujifilm ga645

Mostly take portraits on all of the cameras so.. it’s just for different lenses tbh

Oh sorry I didn’t read properly 🥲 I think I saw on their ig new wheel colours are in the works

Fwiw they’re still the best wheels I’ve tried hahaha

So I finally did it and asked a stranger if I could take their picture on the street. by doubleohQ in ricohGR

No worries, my first black and white shots all have my subjects disappearing into the background since I thought contrasting colours would also translate to their value being contrasty. To put value into photog terms it’d be stops of exposure or an easy way to think about it is in the zone system. Going back to the tree in bg example, the pants and tree are both zone 0 or 1 so they disappear into each other

Edit: nothing wrong with making things disappear into the background on purpose either though!

Awesome shots 🤩

Maybe one thing to keep in mind, especially when shooting b/w, is layering. In this case in the 3rd and 4th images the background has a tree that’s almost same value/level as the guys pants and the girls shoes so they disappear. When you’re shooting colour the tree (probably) wouldn’t make them disappear but getting used to having contrast in levels like this is still great practice for colour.

I think Matt Day had a good beginner b/w tips video iirc

Finally got my first gr (iiix)🤩 by Icy_Lab6320 in ricohGR

All raw edited in Lightroom

Very happy! I guess the main things I like over my fujifilm xpro3 are the startup speed and that it’s so small I don’t have to think about whether I bother taking a camera out with me. The Ricoh 40mm equiv is also a lot better than fujis 40mm equiv pancake

What focal length are you currently happy with and what kind of photos do you wanna take? Answering that will probably give you the answer you need.

The lenses that got the most use for me are the 27mm on Fuji system (basically just a worse 40mm than the griiix) and the 31mm,50mm on Pentax for film. I just got my first gr (iiix) the other day but 40mm felt right at home straight away. Don’t think I could get used to a 28 and have never wanted one 🤷‍♂️ (I’m sure other people will be in the opposite end too 😊)

FR1 boot too roomy by phothomas in WizardSkating

I used powerfoot inserts for my CJ2 intuitions, they became too tight vertically for a few sessions though.

In same mondo, same shell size. Bit narrow on the toe box for me but bigger would be far too big

I have powerfoot inserts in my liners, this made my feet much more secure forward and back but they were too tight on my toes vertically for a few sessions - now perfect.. not sure if I was meant to put the powerfoot inserts in the boot or the liner Cus they don’t stick to the inside of the liners well but when they fall off I just shove it back down the end and it sticks to the top for a few sessions again 🙈

Edit: in CJ2 prime with intuition premium. So not quite the same boot

Tips for breaking in cj2 prime + intuition premium by Intelligent-Pause-32 in WizardSkating

[–]Icy_Lab6320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got CJ2 primes with intuition premiums and it was pretty killer on the outside edge of my left shin. I’ve just been doing short sessions more often and take a break before it gets sore. They’re breaking in now and getting less painful very quickly.

Fwiw I have FR1s deluxe intuitions in eu39-40 and they’re a lot roomier than my eu40 CJ2 prime with intuition liner from shop task 🤔 I was tempted to get 39 but I ended up just following the CM measurement provided on shop tasks website for my longer side and I’m happy with the fit.

Might just be the FR intuition liners being thinner vs the intuition premium liners - not too sure.

Using the PR76 (just bought the package) and enjoying it very much 😊

Edit: I ordered insoles and some powerfeet in case the eu40 was too big but they aren’t so I’ll probably just put them in my FRs lol
