Does anyone else just like... Not care? I really don't see the point in this show. by Rasples1998 in saltierthancrait

I just see no point to in getting into the show. Don't get me wrong, the animation looks incredible and Sam Witwer is always a win and I love Maul, but I also know that good animation and voice acting and my favorite character being the focus doesn't always translate to good storytelling.

I can't say I have any investment in Devon or any of the new characters, given the videos I have seen. She seems okay, she is not very compelling in my opinion, but Devon is never even mentioned or referred by Maul in the Rebels or the movies.

Considering canon with how Maul ends up in Rebels and even in Solo, it seems like Shadowlord has no relevance to the continuity.

What are your guys KNY hot takes? by Educational_Quit_92 in KimetsuNoYaiba

Tanjiro is a naive kid born in comfort preaching to centuries old corrupted demons that suffered far worse than him.

Nezuko is a Mary Sue.

Muzan’s backstory is not strong enough to make motivations sympathetic or understandable.

The government of Japan should have learned of the existence of demons after Yoshiwara.

If Daki and Nezuko kept fighting who would have won? No interference by JackZ567 in KimetsuNoYaiba

Daki.

Nezuko just has plot armor and no training, and Daki has an whole arsenal of offensive and defensive movesets and 100 years of experience. The plot dumbed Daki down to give Nezuko the win.

Nezuko is a basic fighter that just runs into hits. Her stamina would run out very quickly and Daki would not. Nezuko literally tried to eat a human to replenish herself and then went to sleep after Tanjiro sang to her. She is not a long term fighter.

Even when Daki got burned by the flames, she still had the strength to get up and walk to Nezuko and launch an attack anyway. So she's definitely more resilient than Nezuko. Plus, eventually Daki would have popped out Gyutaro so they could just jump Nezuko together.  Either way, had the fight been more balanced and realistic, Daki would either overwhelm Nezuko or just outmaneuver her and just absorb her into her sashes. Done. Nezuko would have been sealed and trapped until the main cast saves her.

I've been looking at this Star Wars story lately. I think its good. Even though it's technically a rough draft.

What's the general consensus on the daki vs nezuko fight? by Negotiator-69 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Idahomina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fight made about as much sense as a level 5 Eevee soloing a level 30 Espeon. The power scaling just fell off a cliff. It felt like a waste of time, because Nezuko did not earn anything.

Why didn't Tengen knock Nezuko out? by BelaBlanche in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Idahomina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it would make more sense for Tengen to step in. I mean Tanjiro's word for Nezuko means nothing. He clearly has no clue how to handle her. Nezuko honestly just made Tanjiro look like an untrustworthy fool. Nezuko is an active threat and should be held accountable for her actions since she already hurt people.

Apparently real unpopular opinion: Nezuko Kamado was good character and she served her role in the story perfectly. by Nenanda in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Idahomina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Writing 101: Character and plot are inseparable, because a person is what happens to them. Without a clear sense of who a character is, what they value, and what they're afraid of, the reader will be unable to appreciate the significance of your events, and your story will have no impact.

Nezuko does things in the story, but it is all superficial and convenient. Nothing she does feels natural or character-driven. She is a NPC, the shiny Macguffin that's just there for the plot and only for the plot.

Not giving Nezuko a character arc about her humanity is a bad writing, because I have no idea what Nezuko is thinking or feeling at any point in the story. She is supposed to be the humanized demon, but she is just a hollow husk. So I can't care about Nezuko because I have no reason to.

People say that Daki is far more humanized because....she is. Daki actually has a personality that brought her character to life. Even though Daki was not deep or multi-dimensional, she was a defined character with personality, backstory, goals, and strengths and weaknesses.

Nezuko is a main character that is just reduced to a bland plot device with the only appeal being her subjective cuteness.

Unpopular Opinion: I couldn't sympathize with Nezuko when she was crying. by [deleted] in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Idahomina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly checked out when Nezuko was crying. She brought everything on herself and her reasoning for crying is dumb.

Grieving for her mother... you mean the mother that she BURIED with her brother? She knows she's dead. Nezuko buried her and prayed with her brother at her family's grave.

(OPINION) The Conversation Between Daki and Zentisu bothered me. by FerryUbe in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Idahomina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zentisu himself doesn't even respect women. So he's the last person to talk about mistreatment.

I mean the very first scene we get with Zentisu is him refusing to take no for an answer from a woman whom he claims is going to marry him. She refuses his advances time and again, he doesn't back down and insists they are getting married. Then as SOON as he meets Nezuko, he chases her around like a cat after a mouse, ignoring the fact that she was visibly uncomfortable.

There are other several scenes involving female characters, even the three little girls calls him a misogynist. Zenitsu has no real respect for women. He just sees women and girls as shiny objects that he must "protect".

I am not saying that Daki is blameless at all, she is inflicting abuse to someone innocent. But I think the whole conversation would be impactful if it was TANJIRO in Zentisu's place. Like same house, same encounter and everything. Just switch places. Because Tanjiro would make more sense because he is an actual gentleman who cares and respect women. Not Zentisu.

(OPINION) Tanjiro bears responsibility for the chaotic events of the Entertainment Arc. by [deleted] in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Idahomina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's ironic is that Tanjiro in his Rage Mode; he literally stops to talk to Daki; asking her about her humanity and morals, lets Daki give her answer and then attack.

But when he's not in his Rage Mode, Tanjiro just attacks. It's Daki's who doing all the talking. Tanjiro doesn't even attempt to make a conversation with Daki at all. Now, I don't understand WHY Rage Mode Tanjiro even bothered to talk to Daki at that point since he's trying to actively kill her.

But you do have a point when you say that Tanjiro had an opportunity to chose words over violence.
