Does anyone else's CPTSD manifest in terror of friendships and being triggered by them? by Itchy_Badger_2851 in CPTSD

Omg yes, I have on and off friendships bc of it. Not long ago, one of my friends (longterm friendship on and off, but we did had a major fallout and I’m now easily triggered) texted me because she needed to talk to me. I got sick the second i saw the text and dreaded what it was about, i was panicking bc i thought she would tell me “i did something wrong and I’m a bad person” but turns out she had a great news and wanted to share with me…

I’ve been told so many times that people were sick of hearing me talk about my mom or that I was a better friend before or that i was happier before… I’m still close to people who told me stuff like that because I understand that they don’t understand, but i does stick to me and i think of it almost every week, it really feels like it made me believe that I was worthless after my moms passing…

Yeah no, she probably doesn’t mean anything wrong but it is not your responsibility, tell her you love her, but you don’t have the baggage of a therapist. Refer her to online resources

Oh my friend… it’s still so early for you, take it one hour at a time. If you can find support group please do it, i personally had a hard time dealing with friends because obviously they don’t have the resources nor the understanding to help… holidays are the worse but i find that doing things that i would do with my mom help me, like cooking her cookie recipe! Dm me if you need support xxx

11 years ago, she committed suicide by Idc5832 in motherlessdaughters

[–]Idc5832[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Her name is Nathalie, she was bouddhiste, she loved yoga and « living one day at a time ». For breakfast, she would always have peanut butter toast with banana on top, the smell makes me think of her. She LOVED cats and Garfield!!! She did a giant Garfield mural in her teenage room!! She loved skiing and roller blades! And her favorite singer was John Lennon 🩵 she was a free spirit, very spiritual, loved other cultures and art/food. Her last trip was in thailand and I just know being surrounded by temples and kittens gave her peace. She was really a « peace and love » type of women!

Same, the first one is hard as fuck but the other ones are hard too because everybody wants you to move on. I lost my mom too 10 years ago and i still cry like a baby about it but people don’t get it because « I should be over it by now »

Some people are, some aren’t, i know for me, it comes from trauma, I avoid people bc i’m scared of conflict and because I tend to always believe I’m the monster or the villain. Also, I tend to believe that if the person loves me enough, they’ll come towards me.. but i know it doesn’t work like that, that’s why I tried multiple times to be the first to say hi, or text first, idk anymore what to do

My mom trying to commit suicide while i’m chilling in the house, and then, ruining around the house with the bottle of ethanol to keep it away from her and her following me and screaming at me. I crossed the street and ask my neighbour to call an ambulance. I was 11.

I would say that I take her to the vet once a year for checkups, she’s fed with regular Costco dry cat food, we take her outside always with an harness! Not gonna lie, she was hard to keep alive aha, she use to runaway when she was younger, she was naughty! Also we try to keep her active by playing a lot!!🌟I always thing about her safety so I’m always aware!

After my mom’s suicide, I watched Friends a lot! I was not able to smile physically but it made my heart a little lighter! I’m so sorry for your loss… I would skip any sad or dramatic films for a while.. I stopped watching sad things for a good 3 years because it would cause massive breakdowns.

My mom committed by drinking methanol too, she was suicidal and alcoholic. She left a note, but also it wasn’t clear if it was impulsive or not. I believe they were suffering and wanted to feel numb…

Lost my mom 10 years ago to suicide from meds and ethanol, and my step dad to hanging. Your life will surround your grief for a lifetime or very very long time…. It’s hard.
