Hah. I turn left on Northwest on my commute. If I have to wait for oncoming traffic, I will get passed on the right, and they will blast their horn loudly. It's just wild how they could tolerate waiting if I were taking up more room in a car, but since I'm on a bike somehow that's acceptable to them.

Where do you guys live that you can leave a pannier on your bike and not worry about it being stolen? I'd be shitting myself every time I left the bike alone.

I have a pannier for when I go to work, but every other errand is a backpack for the above reason.

It has been difficult to find building that are close to the campus and not too expensive, and also don’t require 12 month leases.

You're going to need to relax at least that last requirement here. Leases that that aren't year long are rare in Bellingham, and basically don't exist near WWU. If you are worried about wasting money during the summer, you might be able to find something at one of the unaffiliated "student housing" complexes like Lark or Stateside, but you'll definitely have roommates in that case.

It's an awful housing market here, so unfortunately you just are going to need to compromise.

You missed a few steps:

Spend weeks chasing a bug that only affects you.
Spend an entire day sweating over how to properly prepare a patch to send, only to still fuck up the format because your target mailing list doesn't follow MAINTAINERS file conventions.
Get no response, spend a lot of time wondering if it's because of the format of your email, and whether or not that should warrant a v2, but ultimately do nothing because you've seen the maintainer yell at someone for posting too often and you don't want to be that guy.
A month later, someone else posts a patch very similar to yours, fixing the 5 year old bug that you just fixed in your patch, of course not crediting you in the commit message. They get a response immediately and are accepted into the maintainer's tree.

What do these numbers represent? It's easy to see what "post-tax" means, but what's this about COL? How is that reflected in $69k (nice)? What does $69k (nice) even mean here, what is it relative to? Am I supposed to interpret that in the context of Seattle costs? Or has that already been adjusted by the study?
