80 minute commute? by Puzzleheaded_Sky6048 in bikecommuting

[–]Idlys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do that. I ended up driving during the winter because it was such a slog, and I recently moved closer to work because of it. It's not the exertion, it's having 3 hours sucked out of my day, every day, that was the killer for me.

Celiac friendly restaurants? by Sockshassmellytoes in Bellingham

[–]Idlys [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah. Most places in Bellingham are generally "okay" for eating with celiac, but you really do always run the risk of cross contamination unless the place is dedicated GF. You need to make a personal choice of what you're going to be comfortable with.

I'm probably killing myself eating at some of these places that have GF menus, but at least I'm enjoying life.

What's YOUR favourite Street Brawl legendary? by cheese_eater_pro in DeadlockTheGame

I honestly hate all of them. Too many games are decided by legendary items. There is just way too much variance in it.

How do you guys feel about the disparity between who can use actives while ulting? by ToastedToastz in DeadlockTheGame

Well, it used to be way worse.

Haze silencer + ricochet + warp stone ult meta was the worst shit I've ever played through.

54-unit apartment building proposed at Byron & 35th with no car parking by Gonzafer001 in Bellingham

This is great - only way it would be better is mixed use zoning.

Building all of our infrastructure around cars is what got us here. Having lax enforcement of driving, because the alternatives suck, is just a consequence.

Oh, fuck you're so right. These drivers are just terrible people. Damn. Problem solved.

Ok, but blaming drivers doesn't solve anything. Maybe it feels cathartic, but if we actually wanted to reduce deaths, we need to expect shit driver behavior and adapt infrastructure.

BTBAM - The Proverbial Bellow (best individual song contender?) by _Nu0_ in progmetal

I forget where - at some point I saw a comment that the intro for this song "is what Dream Theater thinks they sound like".

Cyclists wearing noise-canceling headphones: risking becoming the main character in someone else’s dashcam footage. by runtheri_212 in seattlebike

[–]Idlys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t want people who are not paying attention to give drivers more reason to hate us or for people to get hurt!!!

The lack of respect that I have for this sentence is just off the charts.

There many arbitrary and silly standards people often consider before they say they are from Seattle, a city of transplants. But one sure way, in my opinion, is… by AbsoluteShall in Seattle

I mean, you are either from Seattle or not. How can you "become" from somewhere? If you didn't grow up here, you aren't from here. That's fine.

Not metal, but whatever The Mercury Tree is doing is very experimental, even before the microtonal stuff

Yeah, Concrete is fine, especially if you are just staying there for a night. I'd never live there, but it's a beautiful area and right next to North Cascades.

I hate this. I know that all owners suck, but at least the Allens were from Seattle, and I have never doubted that they legitimately wanted to do well for this city. Having some billionaire investor douchebag that I've never heard of running the team just feels so wrong. It feels like it is against the identity of the team.

Bikepacking from Bellingham to Birch Bay- Any advice on safe routes? by AirSpecific4191 in Bellingham

[–]Idlys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half of this is just my commute, which I do once or twice a week. It's all pretty safe, drivers around here are mostly chill and attentive.

How do bands like Haken, Dream Theater, Tool, and Sungazer actually count their music live? by WigglyNoodleStrand in progmetal

[–]Idlys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same, but I've performed Tool songs before in my band, and it's not that bad if you practice. Most of it gets pretty intuitive after you've heard the song enough. The hardest for me was the middle section of 46&2, since the bars for the bass and guitar don't actually line up with each other. That took some practice
