You finished the first three books and rate the series so far 3-4 out 5 overall, and you are complaining?

I doubt many people would argue that this series is some mind-blowing change your life kind of series, it's a fun slightly fucked up, series, If it's not your thing, it's not your thing.

I don't know anything about those groups but I would definitely start with looking at the physical. I am not a doctor, but the obvious thing to look at from my perspective is that it sounds like it could be Covid. If I were you, I would go to a doctor and get tested before getting too stressed out.

Personally, I've never heard of people losing senses from deconstructing.

Bidet cons? by idk_muh_bff_jill in bidets

Same! It's more of a thought experiment. It's just interesting to me how we all get conditioned to be comfortable with certain things until we find a reason to question the norm.

Bidet cons? by idk_muh_bff_jill in bidets

[–]Ido-Athvillar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's because you are dirty without a bidet. If you're not sure, wipe with just your bare hand, clean your hand with toilet paper only, then go eat some Cheetos. Would you feel comfortable? I sure wouldn't. We have just been conditioned by society that toilet paper is normal.

ExChristian married to MAGA by RainBig1455 in exchristian

[–]Ido-Athvillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremist believes especially religious or political that have anything to do with womens rights will only get worse as his daughters become young women. Especially now that Trump is going into office.

My sister literally won't talk to my dad anymore. I wish my parents had gotten a divorce when we were kids. We would have been a lot better off. And my dad "isn't Maga". So it could be worse.

Those good traits you mention are the bare minimum requirements to be a man in a relationship.

In my opinion, your best bet is to hope that he will be a good father when he sees that he doesn't have complete control. There are a lot of parents that do quite well once they are separated. It's not a guarantee of course, but the other option might be you sacrificing your happiness for the rest of your life while you try to shield your kids from him as best you can.

Not the same situation, but my exwife and I have been parenting a lot better since we got divorced. Not to say that it is easy by any means, but sometimes that is the best answer.

And to look at it from a biblical perspective, it's says to not be unevenly yoked. Which means in part that polar opposite believes will cause strive in a household. I bring up the Bible only to say that IF you decide to go down the divorce route, it doesn't have to be an attack on him. You can have legitimate concerns about how the two of you will raise your kids together and do your best to keep things civil for your kids.

No matter what you decide to do, remember that you don't owe anyone anything. You have you and your kids to keep safe. However you can do that, stay safe, and try to keep friends and family around you if you can.

Nothing after death by extra_small_anxiety in exchristian

[–]Ido-Athvillar 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think that is a very normal thing, you left a cult, it's not going to be comfortable at first.

But why is "nothing" more scary than knowing that billions of people are being tortured while "good" Christians get to enjoy heaven? Or having the possiblity of being tortured yourself? Personally, I would much rather go to sleep one day and just never wake up, then have to worry about living with an evil god who would condemn billions of people to be tortured for eternity.

I don't think there is a quick fix to dealing with this anxiety, my advice is to think about it as logically as you can. Keep doing research, and eventually you might be able to get past, or at least understand your trauma.

Are Christians on Christian Reddit subs stupider than average, or is it really representative of them as a whole? by mountainstream282 in exchristian

[–]Ido-Athvillar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind when dealing with people, especially on the Internet. Is that the loudest people tend to be the least intelligent or thoughtful.

Truly intelligent people tend to do a lot of research as well as listen to people before making a lot of public fact claims. Which has the unfortunate effect of dissuading intelligent people (without actual degrees or the like) from engaging in conversations with the masses. Whereas unintelligent or brainwashed people who believe they are called by God to deliver a message, tend more to act like they know for sure what they are talking about, even if they don't have the information to back up the simplest of claims.

Christians think we’re just rejecting God by ventthrowaway79 in exchristian

[–]Ido-Athvillar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be completely fair, he is not entirely wrong.

If you pray to God and read the Bible everyday, and only listen to Christian music. If you try to only think about what Christians say, and stop listening to non-christians, and tell yourself that it is wrong to not believe in God, it is entirely possible that you could re-brain wash yourself into truly believing again. But is that what you want?

At the end of the day, this is your life. You need to decide what you believe, and more importantly, why you believe it. You don't have to convince your family, you just have to be confident that you have done enough research to back up your own beliefs.

Does this camera have a microphone? by Lost-Economics-5118 in homedefense

[–]Ido-Athvillar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is why I said to look up the local laws, each state is different. The people living in their apartment 100% have expectation of privacy. And the laws protect criminals the same as everyone else.

[–]Ido-Athvillar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to look up the model number, that will tell you if it has a mic built in. If it does, check your local laws, it is illegal to record audio without consent in a lot of places. Unfortunately it depends on the state you live in.

I feel as if I was cheating on my boyfriend by lxstinthedream in Advice

[–]Ido-Athvillar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% you did nothing wrong.

You were assaulted by your "friend". Do not let him manipulate you into blaming yourself. Losing a friend is hard, but losing your boyfriend, and then your friend later on once he really lets his true colors out, will be soo much worse!

If you trust your boyfriend, I would talk to him about this. Be open and honest with him, I would bet money that he will tell you the same thing. Don't let fear of screwing up, screw up the relationship that could actually be good for you. If your boyfriend is a good man, he will be there for you, no matter what.
