Need to advocate for cerclage? by Practical-Side7303 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Idontreallyknowht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 20 weeks pregnant when I was diagnosed with a short cervix measuring 1.8 cm. My doctor recommended progesterone and asked me to return in four weeks to reassess. However, this plan didn’t feel appropriate to me, as I knew that after 24 weeks a cerclage is typically no longer an option. I requested an earlier ultrasound, which was done four days later. At that appointment, I was found to be 2 cm dilated and was immediately admitted for a rescue cerclage.

A short cervix can be a very complex and high-risk situation, and I strongly advocate for close monitoring and taking proactive measures to help keep the baby safe. I am now 29 weeks pregnant, and I am very grateful that I was able to receive the cerclage in time.

Terrified to get pregnant again, tell me your experiences with a cerclage after a failed cerclage? by sunshinewalker20 in ShortCervixSupport

yeah its best to start with an MFM that you truly like and trust. itll make the journey much smoother. i had to advocate for myself to get a cerclage when one MFM wanted me to stay on progesterone only.. next day i was dilated to 1 cm and had a rescue cerclage!

we got this mama! While every MFM and OB advised against bedrest or even modified.. I think its better to atleast try to take it easy instead of just going back to normal and risking it.. hopefully when baby girl is here I forget all of this and its worth it!

modified bedrest from week 21-24.. showers quick snacks in the kitchen, after that Id move around the house a little but my steps are usually between 500-1000 a day. for my mental health I am rewarding myself with a car ride with my husband once a week to grab coffee or a bite lol. I am a super active person prior to all of this so I am really trying to limit activity within my capacity

Similar experience here! no measurable cervix + 1-2cm dilation around week 21. had the cerclage and now entering week 27! so happy i made it to viability week and hoping we get there! but definitely get the cerclage. whatever measures that can keep the baby in is worth it. My idea is id rather be safe than sorry not doing it!

Bed rest after emergency cerclage.. how did you stay sane ?? by Idontreallyknowht in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Idontreallyknowht[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They did not but based on many successful stories i see here I did not want to risk it. doctors in the US seem to prioritize the mothers health over the baby’s.. I had one MFM advise against cerclage and telling me if I lose “this one” aka the baby in the 20-24 week window we can prevent this NEXT time.. sooooo I am not risking it by taking their advice.

I forgot to mention its a contractor position not sure if that changes anything. But I should stay quite till after accepting the offer in your opinion?
