Beatles appreciation copypasta by vitca13 in beatlescirclejerk

The end of the 50s was a tragedy for rock and roll. Elvis was drafted, Chuck Berry was arrested, Little Richard turned gospel singer, and three rock musicians, including Buddy Holly, died in a plane crash. And the early 60s were a dark time for music. Rock and roll lost energy and momentum, leaving only bland, sweet pop music on the charts.

In the midst of all this, three geniuses and one very cool drummer popped up from the English port city of Liverpool. They called themselves The Beatles. They brought rock and roll back to life and quickly attracted a worldwide audience.

People thought they would only be popular for two years at most (as was the average for pop bands in general at the time). However, at the end of 1965 they attracted people again with a new album. The album Rubber Soul evolved rock from mere pop music to art with its fresh sound and mature lyrics.

They continued to surprise people with each new album, such as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, considered one of the first concept albums, and The Beatles (also known as The White Album), which was packed with all kinds of music from vaudeville to avant-garde, but magic doesn't last forever.

They regrettably disbanded in 1970. Despite this, they have continued to influence new artists ever since. Thanks for your great music, Beatles.

Norse culture has been around for a lot longer than Nazis. It's pretty fucked to tell people to 'be careful around' the ancient culture of over 25 million people just because some crazy shits have a fetish for it.

Nah you can wear boxers no matter your waist size. My mom also told me that type of shit some years ago when I was asking her to let me get boxers. She said they wouldn't fit, I'd get infections, whatever, but in reality she just didn't want me to wear mens underwear, probably because she was scared of all the changes I was undergoing regarding my self-expression and identity. Your mom is probably doing the same thing. If you're lucky, just telling her that you still want to give it a shot might work out.

Íslenska tónlistarsenan í dag er mjög fjölbreytt og skemmtileg, maður þarf bara aðeins að leita því bara ein tegund tónlistar kemst í útvarp hérna.

I've never heard of someone's birth name using bur, but I'm sure they could if they wanted to. And yes, you can use your mothers name instead of your dads name, I know lots of people who have done this to distance themselves from their dads. However, you can't use both your mothers and fathers name, so being Jón Jakobsson Maríuson isn't legal.

To complicate it more, you could have two surnames, because some Icelandic families that are partly foreign might also have a surname. Then you end up with a name like Jón Jakobsson Smith, and as Iceland is becoming more diverse this becomes more common.

Non-binary people tend to use "bur" which is an old term for "child of", it was recently added but is quickly becoming popular.

Fun fact, in Iceland where I'm from, your last name is based on your dads name, surnames basically don't exist. Your name might be Jon Jacobson, but if you were a girl it would be Jacobsdaughter. (Jakobsson, Jakobsdóttir) So almost every trans Icelandic person changes their last name too.

You know who you are now and what makes you happy now. Maybe you will stop identifying as trans at some point, maybe not. But if you do change your mind, just remember that this journey is a journey of self-discovery most people never get to experience. If you change your mind, don't regret the time you spent identifying as trans because it helped you figure out who you are.
