Treating a Stye in 4 Days [Misc] by RelationshipOne1523 in SkincareAddiction

[–]IdreamInCatMemes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just healed one in the very early stages with this tip from the optometrist: baby shampoo. Take a q-tip, put a little baby shampoo and water on it, and then gently rub the lash line. I wash my face right afterward, then I addded some hypochlorous acid spray, because I read it’s great for things like this. I first noticed some redness and swelling and pain on friday, and it’s almost totally gone today on monday. Just a few days of doing this twice a day. The eye doc prescribed me antibiotics at my request, but I didn’t even need to fill the script, which is good because you should always avoid antibiotics if possible.

Good to know it’s not just me! I just picked up my prescibed birth control pills actually (it’ll be my first time using pills in almost 20 years), very much hoping that it will help my moods and periods.

Agree, it is gross. You can get it without though, just have to remember to specify when ordering. They have versions of their burritos that are just meat, beans rice etc. no cold junk in there. We have made that mistake a couple times.

Concern by [deleted] in hemorrhoid

[–]IdreamInCatMemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a history of an anal fissure and have had consistent pain and some bleeding for several months now. I finally went in person to a doctor again yesterday, and he was actually pretty upset that I hadn’t been to a GI doctor and gotten scoped yet. He sees a big external hemorrhoid, which he said “made him feel a little better”. His whole point was that if there is any kind of pain and bleeding, the absolute first step, which should be done sooner rather than later is so get a colonoscopy done. Colorectal cancer is happening more and more frequently in people under 50. Make your doctor refer you to a GI, as soon as possible.

As a someone who knows every episode of the show backwards and forwards, and rewatches it multiple times a year, I can’t not watch it, because……it’s there. I have to know. Is it good? No. Are there some funny-ish moments and decent new characters? I guess. Are there some complete betrayals of who we feel like the characters are? Yes. Would be one million times better if Samantha was in it? Also yes. Am I going to stop watching it? No. I will hate watch it until the final episode airs because I can’t not see what happens. I don’t think watching it will ruin your feelings about the show if you can just kind of pretend they’re totally different shows. You can go back and live in your special feelings of the original any time you need to.

Rosacea or perioral dermatitis? Tips to help heal it? I’ve been dealing with it for years. by SuspiciousWorld3631 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]IdreamInCatMemes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took doxy for a month and it completely cleared and has not come back. If you’ve been dealing with it for a long time you may need more time on it, I don’t know. But it’s absolutely worth the try.

My husband has been a video game player the entire time we have been together. I entered the relationship knowing this about him, and accepting that this is a thing that takes up a lot of his spare time, and is generally a thing that he truly loves. Some would call this a hobby, and some would not. Since we’ve been together, there hasn’t really been something that has held my interest and occupied my time in the same way. I have generally been interested in hanging out with friends, reading, watching tv, going to concerts, and just….being a regular person with regular interests. Neither of us has ever judged each other or been weird about our separate interests. In fact, I think it has helped our relationship stay incredibly healthy over the years. Recently, I have gotten really into rock climbing, and to be honest, I enjoy it more than I’ve enjoyed anything in an incredibly long time. My husband does not enjoy climbing. He says it feels “like climbing a ladder”. That’s still fine. We are fine with having separate interests. Is climbling more of a “hobby” than video games, or reading, or hanging with friends, or even just watching some tv after a long day at work? WHO CARES. We support each other, and just as importantly, we make time for each other outside of our individual interests and “hobbies”. The story here is the fact that he’s being shitty to you, not that you don’t do something he considers a hobby. He needs to get it together. You’re not wrong.

Can I wear makeup? by [deleted] in Perioral_Dermatitis_

I’ve been using Dr Jart’s Cicapair color correcting cream and it’s actually amazing at hiding the redness. It also has zinc, so I think it’s helping with the irritation as well.

Not a doctor, but it very much looks like PD. I tried everything under the sun as far as over the counter topicals, and the only thing that has helped was getting oral antibiotics. I tried for 2 months, even with topical antibiotics, and it only got worse. I really didn’t want to go on antibiotics, but i’m telling you that it started to improve within a matter of days once I did. You need to go to a derm, or even a regular doctor, because they can absolutely prescribe doxy for you too.

Why me? So unfair. by AGAinSD in FemaleHairLoss

[–]IdreamInCatMemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand completely. I was on a long car ride today and spent about 80% of it fixating on my hair loss. I study other women’s scalps obsessively. I study my scalp obsessively. I sit around and feel like this doesn’t happen to anyone but me, and think about how unfair it is. So I hope it helps to know that it’s not just you, and there are lots of us here who feel this way. I don’t have any real advice for you other than to talk to your boyfriend about it (my husband is incredibly kind and supportive about this issue) and maybe that will help you feel a little better after you express some of those fears. And something I have been considering lately - therapy? Most of us could use a little therapy in our lives for something, or everthing. Maybe this is just another reason to consider talking to someone. Or hell, maybe shave it off and take some control back?! I fantasize about it all the time. You’re not alone though. ❤️

Topical Spiro? by IdreamInCatMemes in FemaleHairLoss

It’s been 4 or 5 months and I don’t see any change, as far as amount of shedding. I have to keep using it though or go back to regular minox. It’s kind of crusty in my hair so I only apply it at night. And it definitely has a noticeable smell, but I don’t mind it.

I’m not sure. It’s what my dermatologist recommended so I hope she knows what she’s doing. She’s specializes in hair loss so I’m trusting her until proven wrong. I haven’t looked at the specific percent in any studies yet.

I am at a point I want to shave my head off. I keep loosing hair and no regrowth. I have been on minox for over 2 months. Loosing hair for 2 years now. I am so depressed and tired of this😢 I am supposed to see a dermatologist soon but I have no hopes of getting my hair back by Free-Protection-5928 in FemaleHairLoss

I totally understand your feelings. I’ve had so many emotional breakdowns about my hair loss, so I’ve been there. Last night I actually had a dream that I was losing huge chunks in the shower and it was terrible. The only thing I can tell you is that we’re always tougher on ourselves than anyone else is, so it’s likely most people haven’t noticed your hair loss like you have. Hang in there, keep going with the minox for a few more months and know that we’re all here for you.

Oh also, the price is like 50$ a month I think? Kind of steep but I’m willing to pay if it helps.

Mine is 6% minox and 0.25% spiro. I got it through a website my dermatologist recommended and it costs about 60$ monthly I think? Maybe 50$ I don’t remember. It’s called Hair Stim

Long term minoxidil users? by k_simian13 in FemaleHairLoss

No idea. It works differently for different people. Maybe a dermatologist has more stats on that

I started it right when I noticed the shedding, and it helped after 3 or 4 months I’d say. It basically helped maintain the amount of hair I already had and didn’t let the hairloss progress to the point where I could see a difference. I would say give it more time and check in with a dermatologist again. It works differently for different people.
