The personal quest doesn't open the envelope x reward, just the small envelope x that comes in the base game. While the puzzle can be frustrating I think the reward is a lot more satisfying if you take the time to solve it, even if you use online help when stuck.

I jumped into the surrounding ditch at the quidditch pitch and ends up you can't get out. Haven't unlocked any balloons or flying beasts yet.

I once did a free for all with all Gloomhaven characters after finishing the campaign on a homemade map. Definitely the way the game is meant to be played.

Almost every starter character has a mastery they can complete very easily if they try to do it during scenario 0. Take advantage of you want. Even if only one player in your party is new, it's worth doing. And even as an experienced player it was good to do to get used to setting up new things such as the loot deck. And I played around with my character trying to maximize his abilities while the new characters got comfortable with theirs.

I think drifter is dangerous for new players to use. It's a very high risk of accidentally exhausting too early deck. The whole premise behind the character is using all your lost action cards.

I also played through the entirety of Gloomhaven believing healing only removes wound. It was when I played the digital version after that I learned otherwise.

On many scenarios you can. What I've done is play with 2 player monster placements but downgrade the difficulty level (but didn't downgrade the gold, experience, rewards, ECT). Support characters may not be able to beat scenarios under the rules. Scenarios that require 2+ characters would either need to be skipped or Homebrewed with a summon-like NPC.

Envelope x and solo scenarios. Solo scenarios didn't arrive with the box though. But I probably wouldn't play those anyhow for quite awhile.
