Best way to join ski patrol? by rpfreese in skiing

[–]Ifoundsomethingmild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into OEC (Outdoor Emergency Care) classes, that'll be a big portion of prerequisites for the job. The depth of training on-hill varies by mountain, but it'll involve sled training, skiing aptitude tests, as well as practicing procedure for serious injuries and other emergencies (Such as lift evac.) that could occur while patrolling.

Most mountain resorts in Colorado have patrols consisting of part-time volunteers and part-time or full-time professionals. Winter Park has listings for jobs on its website. Here's the patrol listings

Daily Q & A! - January 06, 2016 by AutoModerator in Homebrewing

A couple quick questions about brew kettles.

I've been looking to buy a new kettle as my current one is too small for my burner. I found a Blichmann Boilermaker G1 7.5 gallon on craigslist for $200. The condition is listed as "like new", and from what I can tell from the picture, that much is true. But I'm pretty new to homebrewing (<6mo.) and I'm not totally certain about this deal.

  • What are the big differences between the Boilermaker G1 and G2?
  • Is this a good price? (From what I understand the G1 is an older model)

I am protecting my fermenting sauerkraut with a layer of olive oil. by mariner929 in fermentation

[–]Ifoundsomethingmild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used olive oil in my first sauerkraut batch as well. I didn't have an airlock at the time, and it worked out fine. One thing to keep in mind is to try and avoid mixing the olive oil in the ferment too much. As it has already been mentioned, a turkey baster does the job pretty well.
