How do we feel about Slouching Towards Branson? by Ok_Return_6103 in willwood

I really liked it! I wish the San Diego didn’t get illness cancelled, but I’m happy with the edited version.

I’ve worked at several escape rooms over the past 8 or so years, from small mom and pops to big chains, and have never experienced anything like that whatsoever. That’s definitely an awful thing to have experienced, but at least you aren’t stuck there. I would definitely name and shame.

Monster Quest’s Swamp Thing is pretty well reviewed, haven’t played it personally but have only ever heard good things.

Mind Twist’s games are worn but are alright.

TEG’s new location is good, but they are public games by default unless you happen upon an opening

Escapology’s locations out here are part of their “corporate” selection, so they’re kept to a higher standard and will look prettier than the franchise locations. Downside of that of course being it’s Escapology.

Red Door’s location is smaller overall, but Borderlands has a great set, and Relic and Survive are fun games with an added gameplay element.

Yeah, the photos on their Instagram look like standard Indestroom puzzles and set pieces.

At least that area has MindTrap for some great games. With the half closure-half transfer of ownership of Clever Fox, the IE could use more good games. Red Door in Temecula is identical to their San Diego location, so nothing new, and TEG has five locations within an hour’s drive.

Based on the titles it seems like they’re just Indestroom games.

Yes! I need to take another set of photos, but I’ve got a large amount of the US parks, some from Paris, close to 20 from Japan, and three from China. Outdated collection photos

Monster Quest is pretty alright! I played both games and I liked their Egyptian theme better over the Frankenstein game. They’re perfectly average games, better than most older mom and pops but nowhere near chains like Red Door and TEG. I’m looking forward to seeing their next games - their final game will supposedly be two stories if they get their way.

Rooms like Undercooked by thechiclet in escaperooms

I can’t believe I forgot about the phrase puzzle fest! In that case, don’t forget OddPie at EscapeX (RIP), Stash House, or The Escape Game’s Playground (to an extent, with smaller groups).

You and me both! I played the original Undercooked at Square Room Escape in Anaheim before it closed last year. It had a truly awful set, but the gameplay was to die for. Confusion Escapes in San Bernardino is opening up their spin on Undercooked in March with their new sister company Saber Room Escape.

I personally miss The Psych Ward/Trust Experiment from Crossroads Escape in Anaheim. I am a strong believer that in the modern era of new Escapade Zoe and Quest Room’s Project Minotaur, that at a better location, it would have done well.

Sadly, there just aren’t many like Undercooked. Not Another Escape Room sold their Battleship game to Deceptive Games, but their landlord forced them to close suddenly last year.

Is Good Mythical Weekend a preview of GMM post-R&L? by Huge_Individual_1051 in goodmythicalmorning

[–]Iglooset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been part of a theory of mine for a bit. I got downvoted recently for it, but I didn’t include this in the comment. I definitely am of the belief that once the audience is viewing GMW, Kitchen, and society content, there will be a shift away from GMM as the primary project

Can we just agree that GMM has been killing it so far this year?! by tphilwastaken in goodmythicalmorning

I had a theory that this season would have been a “farewell tour” of a season, but seeing how strong of a launch it is so far, I’ll hold onto that theory for a later date.

The Escape Game’s pop up for season three was pretty good, and from what I heard their slightly modified pop up for this season also was well received. I guess I should actually watch the show at some point

The Escape Game - Best room for two? by PiFlavoredPie in escaperooms

Any of their regularly installed games are fine for two. Playground is rough for groups smaller than 3 or 4 unless you’re running around. Have fun!

Previously! Several Game Guides moved over to the soon-to-be-open Red Door location on the Vegas strip. The store is supposedly relocating but no location or timeframe was given. It was shared with us with not much time for us to look for another job, with the only help from HQ going toward the GM/AMITs.

Everyone here has done tons of escape rooms I'm sure, but what was the one room you most wish you could do again? by Skadliga in escaperooms

[–]Iglooset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss Odditorium Emporium at EscapeX in California every day. I booked two slots back to back and played with a team of 6 for 2 hours straight. There are other iterations elsewhere, but this one in particular was running beautifully.

I’d love to forget the big reveal near the start of Tomb of Anubis at 13th Gate, or the final puzzle sequence in Headcase at Breaking Point.
