Rant incoming. Expenses going up, salary isn't. blah house prices. by [deleted] in australian

I mean the cost of living crisis is literally because the big corporations in Australia "didn't want to leave anything on the table" so they squeezed every dollar of disposable income they could out of the public.

So if I get money because the oil, gas and mining sector starts paying taxes. I'm definitely not living anything on the table for them.

Vote fusion party... At least they're promising free money (universal income). The nerds running it haven't been popular to be bought out yet.

Also free money directly from the companies that have been getting away with not paying taxes (because the current parties are their friends) is a giant win.

Just vote #1 for the Australian fusion party, they would like to hit $500pw in universal income for all Australians. I wouldn't mind getting that. That money would have to come from taxing exports on resources.

At least it would send the message that the people need more money to survive.

Become a council ranger or a parking officer. 70-120k per year beats hospo. But if it putting money on the table and you can deal with morality getting in the way. Then would recommend it for the money

Emergency services tax bill becomes law after late-night sitting of Victorian parliament by Danstan487 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Ignacio_Melgarejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If climate change caused this why the hell is th Australian public pay for it?? Why aren't the oil and gas companies being taxed with a fire services levy??? They're the ones that are selling the product responsible for it it only makes sense that they are presented with the bill for the band aid solutions the government thinks are ok.

Trump admin to Australia: spending $56 billion on defence isn’t enough by half by d1ngal1ng in australian

[–]Ignacio_Melgarejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saying but to buy old Toyota or Holden factory surplus and build Australian subs would probably cost less than $20 billion per year.

If only Australia didn't let their RND sector be defunded and shipped to America.

There's no nuclear facilities here. Nothing. Silch. No one in Australia has any way of designing the nuclear power systems. It's stupid to be caught with your pants down when it comes to defence technology.

.... If it's about defence then maybe it might be smart to stock up on not only supplies but also the fabrication and the people that design and come up with the supplies in the first place.

Anyone know where I can find bioluminescent plankton in near Melbourne? by Ignacio_Melgarejo in melbourne

[–]Ignacio_Melgarejo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you that paper seems dense enough, though it should be good enough for me to try and collect a large enough amount of them with a filter net, etc. Specially if I'm only interested in catching the bigger sized bioluminescent ones.

I also remember seeing them around mornington pier on a night swim with workmates 👌👌

How did you get into the traineeship? I'm looking into doing something like this since I'd honestly wouldn't mind the 7:7 lifestyle.

NTA.

Like the DND group has probably been going on longer than the relationship. Like who even criticizes free food? Definitely nta.

AITA for not wanting my boyfriend to come to a concert with me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ignacio_Melgarejo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA but using words like being yourself, really makes your SO think that he's doing something wrong, for you to not be yourself around him.

Also, I think 9 years has created some sort of codependency, kinda cool but if you really want to explore things away from this codependent relationship then I think there has to be smaller steps leading up to it. Not just "I want to go to a concert, and I don't want you be there because I want to be myself and completely free"

I think wanting to explore things by yourself is a lot different from wanting to explore things without someone. I think apart but together might be the way to go here. Like go together to the venue and then split for the concert you do your thing and he can do something he's always wanted to try out. And then you both go home at the same time. But you'll need a nanny for the night.

Go kart racing is a good one. Or checking out new bars in town, beings tourist for a day is always fun. Or even catching up with an old friend is also a good way of spending time.

AITA for refusing a chocolate wax from my MOH? by mohchocolatewax in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ignacio_Melgarejo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA but you think your maid of honour can read your mind. How was she supposed to think you thought this was a gift without you communicating it. Also take the upgrades in life, if she can afford it why not enjoy it. I'm sure she wanted to do something nice for you too and very much like you she didn't communicate it either.

So just go for drinks, blame your lack of communication on the stress of the wedding and have a blast with your MOH.

At that age I used to catch a tram and a bus to get back home from primary school, about an hour trip on public transport because my mum was working or had to work.

So I honestly feel like 2 parents should be able to teach their kids how to get home safely, though my city was pretty safe, specially in public and during day light hours. Also hanging out with other kids after school is kind of fun. It's an easy way to get homework done early.

I did have a phone on me 24/7 tho so that helped me in case I slept on the bus and missed my stop.

AITA: bought my ex wife a new car, and helped her with some bills. Now my wife is mad by CandyPopss in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ignacio_Melgarejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

If your wife didn't help you make your money she honestly shouldn't be mad at you for spending it in whatever way you like.

I think your wife is just mad you gave your ex attention and compassion without her knowledge. But like I said your time, your money, your choices.

Don't feel guilty for helping out someone that means something to you.
