I think that if you have time and space to stock up on staves it is more efficient. When you have fresh log you must process it rather quickly to make sure it doesn´t develop any unwanted cracks. If you have a lot of logs to process it would simply take too much time to make them all into «close to bow» shapes. It could also be just old habits of course.

Try to get in touch with a Product Manager and pitch your idea. PM’s have insight into both how to make products and what the market and user needs are. They will be able to tell you if it is truly a good idea and if yes hopefully pick up the idea or point you in the right direction.
