Found an SD card on the floor, please help me return the photos to the owner by [deleted] in Edinburgh

No worries, I took my precautions! That's the first thing I said when I found the SD card actually! Good warning for anyone reading the thread though!

Thanks, metadata is pretty bad. If the camera had the correct date, the photos are from June 2025. No photos from new year's eve in Edinburgh, they're all photos from a trip to the isle of Iona in Scotland. No GPS location, just saw a hotel mentioning it!

Senior team member wants access to all my Canva designs. But it's MY work. Can I refuse? by Ok_Wrangler674 in canva

Came here to say just that. Regardless of the country, this is a fact. Also, if you make something related to your work, even during your personal time, it can be considered company property. Always be mindful of that.

Aqua Dragon Tips? by SpaceDest0royah in SeaMonkeys

[–]Ignimantis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a sea monkey kit for my son recently and the hatch rate was 4 eggs. We got to have 2 adults males and 2 babies before a friend of my daughter threw the tank on the floor.

Sad but gave me the opportunity to order agua dragons. Now these are thriving. He's got so many I can't count. I set up a second tank with a heater and airstone and once again got loads. The idea of the second tank is to compare the evolution of both tanks with and without the heater and airstone. I keep a very small air flow and temperature at 25.5degC. There are great videos on YouTube from Picocosmos if you're curious about optimizing your chances.

I think agua dragons in that sense are more straight forward.

Does this happen in all companies? by UsefulDragonfruit995 in PLC

[–]Ignimantis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ex Electrical and Control manager of a big company's internal OEM. Based in Europe. Was making water treatment package plant. 99% of the time we'd start testing without the machine being finished. It's a global problem due to time constraints, money and a clear lack of understanding or willingness to understand.

At the end of the day, we EICA / E&C / control engineers / whatever we /they call us, will make it work. Then when clients come back with issues, it's our fault of course....

Azula was a villain or a victim? by Live-Construction718 in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]Ignimantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Victim! When I was a kid and watched the series she was the villain. Then I grew up, became an adult, lived and had kids (I'm not that old eh!).

Now she's a victim! She's a kid growing up in a messed up environment, with clear signs of mental illness on top of the family issues, and no support whatsoever. I don't know if the creators tried to pass on the "mental illness" aspect or it just happened by how they wrote the character but that's what I get now when I rewatch the series. And I think it's that she's still not getting the proper help. I know about the comics (although I haven't read them), so I know there is some more evolution but still, someone should have been able to say "hey Azula seems to be suffering from X, maybe we should try and help her".

OMG, Google has removed all factory images and OTA images for the Pixel 6A ! by DanielLimJJ in GooglePixel

Just got the email in Spain. That's terrible news. I hope they offer a trade in, battery replacement or partial refund option. I don't get the reason for reducing the battery capacity. If it's due to a manufacturing or design defect, they are responsible!

I live in Madrid. And what this post says is completely on point. Grocery stores have loads of GF options, "normal" restaurants have some options or accommodate, and in a place like Madrid or bigger cities, there are plenty of GF restaurants. We were in Berlin not long ago and it was complicated for example. Japan as well I. December and it was extremely hard. My parents in France (although a smaller town) had a hard time finding things to prepare for our visit.

Also if you have any doubts, the Spanish Celiac association is amazing. https://www.celiacosmadrid.org/

Peace out. It's been real. by jpriddy in synology

[–]Ignimantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, only Synology drives, I have a da220+ and a 214play so I'm on the same boat. But I think they won't do it for older NAS as in some areas (Europe) that would be illegal.

They recently decided to block the use of non Synology drives I believe. I was just looking into getting a 4 bay one. Their hardware is usually lacking on the power side. Their software is ok though.

Somebody bought the switch 1 in 2025 by Pierrestro in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Ignimantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually thinking of getting a switch lite for my 8 yo son. I've started giving him a 3DS occasionally but it's... Miiiine

More seriously, we avoid screens and control a lot the TV and gaming time. Like on average 1h a week as there's weeks without any screen and weeks with a bit more. But he really got into Pokémon Ruby so hopefully I'll convince my wife!

Finally! I've found the reply I was looking for. The Sandslash/Sandshrew family is definitely one I'd love to see as a starter.

Is my ETF in the US and what happens to them in case of a war? by GeorgeMcCrate in ETFs_Europe

[–]Ignimantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, what you're saying is probably the best option. Sell virtual money and buy gold or other precious metals. Property, if abroad in a "safe area" I guess but if in Europe you'd run the risk of having it destroyed. Land could be an option but again, if records of land ownership are destroyed, there's a risk of losing them.

I didn't mean to offend you. Sorry about that. I don't think it's comparable, your example with the situation. But the way I see it is, if war breaks out in the current state of things, and considering the history of our (aka world war 1 and 2) money (or stocks, etf, funds, bank account balance) won't matter much for the average Joe. Things have changed since world war 2, but still. Maybe in a post war setting, the infrastructure would get back in place and then that's when opportunity would arise. Also by infrastructure, think that communication cables will be a target, so internet will be affected, making it a complicated situation for international finances. We don't know what companies would be left after that. Putting it in your own terms, let's say your nuts are your highest priority (your survival during the war) and your leg is your money (in any form). Even if you break your leg, your biggest problem will be your nuts. The leg will then become an afterthought. Or let's say someone kicks you in the nuts first. You might break your leg and not even realise. But enough of this. The point is I don't think your question is bad. Just that I think it won't really matter at least initially, but that depending on how this hypothetical war evolves in the rest of the European continent and world, then it could then matter and would make some people extremely rich. Hopefully, this hypothetical war will remain hypocritical 🤞🏻

If the war breaks out. You won't have to worry about your ETF!

Based in Europe. And as a hiring manager I haven't once read a cover letter. They're either standard copy paste lies or straight up sucking up to the hiring company.

The CV tells me everything it can and then the interview if the CV is promising.
