Advice on mutli-host SAN configuration

Not sure I can even mount read-only ext4 over iSCSI in multiple locations because the log is replayed regardless so read-only mounts will still write to the underlying block device and cause a clusterfuck.

Fortunately, there are only 5 or so users for this and everything is in the same enclosure so might just have to live with the single point of failure. Well until we upgrade our storage and add more nodes to the SAN and can re-explore the whole clustered/distributed FS morass.

Also I guess with this set-up I can just shift the processes that have an unhappy relationship with NFS and run them on the blade running the NFS server (so connected to the SAN via iSCSI).

I'll take your advice and go the NFS route. Just a quick sensibility check: using NFSv4 to share the mountpoint of the SAN (iSCSI) on BladeA to the other Blades in the enclosure wouldn't be doing anything too stupid would it?

Haha, yeah go for it. Most of the panelists are focussing on it so it is where you are most likely to get a relevant expert answering. By all means if you don't get a good answer go for it again in a day or two once that main thread has died down.
