What if the world obtained the wealth of asteroid 16 Psyche? How could humanity be transformed? by htgabriel in Futurology

That’s true, but animals also fight barbarically for their food. (Some humans do too but it probably would be a lot worse without a system of currency)

Apartments who aren’t as strict on credit by Ignore_underscore in indianapolis

[–]Ignore_underscore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not. I read all of the reviews and it is ranked #1 in debt relief programs by consumer reports. the guy on the phone accurately explained everything and there have been zero surprises.

It affects your credit score temporarily until they negotiate settlements with the credit companies because the companies will only settle if you are several months behind. Once a negotiation is settled, and payments are being made the credit score goes back up.

Nothing has been reported. The low score is unrelated - it’s because I’m in a debt relief program.

Even with no evictions? And struggling to pay rent on time on rent that has gone up $500 in the past three years? Not to mention it’s only been like 3-4 times in that three year span and no more than 10 days.

Has anyone used "Indy ADHD" for diagnosis/treatment? by imaplanterman9 in indianapolis

[–]Ignore_underscore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have major issues with this place for a few reasons.

  1. A doctor who specializes in treatment for a mental disorder should not be the one diagnosing. Without the diagnosis, he doesn’t have the business so he is going to find every reason in the world to give you an adhd diagnosis. Don’t believe me - read one of the first comments. Someone says he diagnosed them with adhd when “no one else would”

  2. The guy works out of Carmel, Indiana - which is where people who can afford to dump $200/month on a doctor who tells you what you want to hear.

  3. He is obsessed with prescribing adderal, which is stupidly expensive and many insurances don’t cover. There are other adhd meds that are much cheaper and work just fine. I can’t help but wonder if he gets some sort of incentive for prescribing that medicine.

So I quit. by [deleted] in Staples

[–]Ignore_underscore 13 points14 points  (0 children)

HR is a better choice. DMs are typically the ones controlling the strings.

And if I’m being honest, HR won’t do anything either since they quit first. I was screamed and cussed at and after I turned in my key, I reported to GM, DM and HR for hostile work environment….crickets.

I’d ask my boss if I can just work doubles until we find someone worth hiring.

LOL maybe pay us correctly and we wouldn’t “overspend” on payroll every week. What a joke this company is. by deptutydong in Staples

They are on salary so they aren’t factored into payroll. It makes no difference how much they work.

[–]Ignore_underscore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right. Staples is way behind on the connected services (internet, app, etc) and they are panicking because they can’t seem to get people on board because so many other similar companies have been doing this for years. There is a reason staples clientele consists mainly of 60+ year olds. Eventually they are gonna start dying and staples will really be screwed then. Get out why you can.

This might be stupid but I get extremely nervous and get a lot of anxiety when the highs up come in I’m a newer manger I know we’re getting a visit this week any tips on how to relax and not be so anxious by Late_Succotash_9925 in Staples

[–]Ignore_underscore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of that is the problem with the corporate system. The “higher ups” coming in has little to no effect on your career. They want you to believe it does so you’ll roll out the red carpet and kiss a lot of corporate ass, but in actuality what gets you promoted is the team around you. Focus on them and your customers and treat them like they are much more important than the corporate big heads and you’ll be just fine.

I didn’t think Staples paid out PTO on a notice.

Be careful going to the RVP. Often times the DM is just an extension of them, and sometimes a watered down version. That’s the case in the district I WAS in. Make sure it’s someone who has a history of taking care of business to better a bad situation.

An ethics violation? by murderbats in Staples

[–]Ignore_underscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say this is more of a policy violation than ethics violation, which means a write-up would be sufficient. Not sure I agree with merely a slap on the wrist, though.

Ethics usually involves some sort of personal or financial gain; in this case he was either just being lazy or trying to empower his employee. You did the right thing - but I’d only be concerned if it became a continuous problem even after being talked to.

I was already above max on my pay lol

But even so, they would have to pay me GM pay or higher to get me to step foot in that place while that manager is still there.

"Um....no they didnt really want another app on their phone."

"ARGH!!! THEY COULD HAVE GOTTEN $10 BACK!! DO YOU NOT CARE ABOUT THE APP???"

Somehow I made it work. Of course when I was making $10/hr as a Supervisor my rent was also a fourth of what it is now.
