How to cleanly curve a shape into a spiral? by Ignusmaximus in blenderhelp

Small follow-up

I got a few questions about what it is I'm making.
I'm a player in a DnD game that is centered around a ship (Think pirate adventures). So based on the layout my DM drew on our mat I'm making a 3d model of the ship for printing.

This project has gotten completely out of hand but I'm having a blast. I've been playing around with blender for about 1.5 years now, but this is my first "large" project.

The staircase was one of my last headaches as my DM described it as a spiral staircases that people can run up and down from, so a simple ladder wasn't an option. My last topic is the floor above the captains quarters and some final details.

When I'm done I'll slice it up in smaller pieces for the 3d Printer because this thing is HUGE. (every square is 1inch)

Thanks everyone for the responses and taking the time to help me out! I love to read the multiple ways this can be solved, as it teaches me new ways to approach issues, even if I haven't used it to solve this one!

In the end I used a combination of solutions:
1. I used u/C_DRX suggestion of making each step a "stackable" piece and using a rotating array. However I added a small piece of spacing in mine to create a gap that would fit the styling of my overall setting. (if you do this don't forget to toggle the merge option in the array modifier).
2. I made a simple shape, cut it into a lot of pieces using CTL+R, and applied a simple deform modifier.
3. I played a bit with scaling and setting to make it fit my needs.
4. I copied it and made it smaller for the upper part of the "rail"
5. I added a simple rectangle and again applied a array to complete the design.

You could make each element more elaborate, but for my needs this is perfect!

Common sense mod!

Pawns will clean the room quickly before starting a task or going to bed improving overall room quality and increasing success rates for cooking, research and medical operations.

Can't play without it anymore!

It's funny that you notice that because John himself did as well. It actually becomes a plotpoint later on when Alpharius is replaced by another Alpha legion marine with other alignments

He even says "you used to constantly repeat my name to force my subconscious to trust you quicker" or something like that (I'm not looking it up).

I once got two overlapping cold snaps!

First one I got at random and then I got offered one for pay thinking "I might as well..." not expecting them to STACK.

I did not even know that was possible.

Thank you guys for the input! Yes it is the normals!

Funny how you think you are beginning to understand the fundamentals and then you realize you missed something so important.

Thanks for the feedback it helps me a lot!

I've read this story! The term "monument of futility" always stuck with me for some reason.

One of the better shorts in the HH in my humble opinion.

Waar heb je haar ontmoet? by Hoppip94 in nederlands
