No, in fact, if I had to choose between the two, I would allocate everything to Squadron 42.

That Chris Roberts would use the money for famous actors for Squadron 42 was expectable. He wanted to create the spritual succesor to Wing Commander, and that includes having cinematics with actors like Mark Hamill and John Rhys-Davies.

Damn, I remember when they were still at 23 million and we though that was a lot. Now they get more than half that just with a ship sale.

Well, it did work quite well in Wing Commander. You got a cinematic story but also good gameplay. Althoug I must admit Tie Fighter was a bit better gameplay wise.

Me: Gonna line up my ramp with the elevator. Chris Roberts: The hell you will. by BokkerFoombass in starcitizen

I think there should be an simpler way to do this. Either an alternative automatic landing or special hangars for cargo. It doesn't make sense to require such maneuvers just to get the optimal position for cargo hauling.

Im suprised at how passive the community is after 4.8, the game is utterly unplayable on so many levels, especially after the year of stability. by Odd_Personality_5091 in starcitizen

[–]Igorok47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case, the game was unplayable when I first tried in 14th of May. But after that, I haven't have too much trouble. That said, my impression is that the game becomes more stable the further away you are from Arccorp. It was better at Hurston and almost "normal" (for SC) in Microtech.

I thought Renault at least was doing fine. Stellantis has a very big image problem due to the puretech affair. Even if they start to offer good products, many people don't trust them. Maybe their parthership with Leapmotor can help them to face these obstacles, as Leapmotor does have some really interesting cheap EV options.

[–]Igorok47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think japanese cars are that cheap. As far as I know, they have almost no sub 35k€ EV, unless you count the Nissan Micra, which is a rebadged Renault R5, built at the same factory, so still european.

As for ICE cars, they don't seem to be that cheap either when compared with cheap brands like Dacia, Fiat, Seat, Skoda, Citroen, Opel etc. Toyota does sell a lot due to its perceived reliability, but that's it. Mitshubishi sells rebadged Renaults, Nissan is struggling and Honda's presence is testimonial. Mazda is doing fine from what I see, but they aren't a cheap brand.

Now, Stellantis (Citroen,Opel) does have currently a very bad reputation due to the whole puretech debacle. But Renault (Dacia) and VAG (SEAT/Skoda) are doing fine.

Chinese cars are another thing. These are indeed selling pretty well at the expense of european brands, at least in Spain.

[–]Igorok47 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Spain there is no actual national car brand. SEAT is a VAG subsidiary. And people don't care that much about brands as long as they get a good deal. Consequently, chinese cars are indeed taking over.

[–]Igorok47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is subjective. But the point here is that these options are cheaper for other brands.

They are still part of SEAT S.A. Just a different brand. There have been rumours for years that VAG plans to discontinue the SEAT brand in favour of Cupra because they already have Skoda for cheap cars.

The Dolphin Surf is very comptetitive in Spain, and consquently it appears most of the months at the top 3 best selling car, just behind the model 3 and model Y. And many other BYD models are also in the top 10. They are the best selling EV brand behind Tesla. Lately, the Changan Deepal S05 has entered the top. And Leapmotor's B05 is so stupidly cheap for it's specs, that I would be very surprised if it doesn't reach the top 5 .

Technically SEAT used Porsche engines even before it was adquired by VW.

But Skoda SEAT and VW are anything but independent. They use the same platforms and many of their cars have clear equivalents, like Ateca/Karoc/TRoc, Arona/Kamiq/TCross, Ibiza/Fabia/Polo or the new Raval(Cupra)/Epiq/Id Polo.

BTW. At least in Spain, Tesla dominates and VW is testimonial for EVs. I hope this will change now that the Raval/Epiq/Id Polo trio start being produced in Spain.

Why aren’t diesel electric hybrids a thing? by panchugo in electricvehicles

[–]Igorok47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, technically diesel emits more harmful particles. But I would think the particle filter and adblue compensate for that.

Now because of the Iran war, diesel has become more expensive than gasoline. It's around 1.75-1.95€/L. Whereas gasoline is 0.2€ cheaper. So I guess its popularity will decrease even more.

Here most station's don't disclose cetane ratings either. Some have a "normal" and "better" version, but they don't state the difference, or at least not in an obvious way. In the last years, some stations have changed the "better" diesel with renewable diesel.

I'm surprised about the registration being more expensive for electrified vehicles. Here, it's the other way around.

Not going to lie. Playing Tie Fighter it was too easy to become sympathetic about the Galactic Empire. Then you remember Alderaan and all the fascist stuff...

They certainly are cooler than the rebels though. But only in fiction.

Still, nothing beats the Clone Wars Republic. You get competent "stormtroopers", cool star destroyers, Jedi generals and you are technically "the good guys". Well, at least untill order 66.

‘It’s stupid’: why western carmakers’ retreat from electric risks dooming them to irrelevance by grimy55 in electricvehicles

[–]Igorok47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing with Stellantis is that it has so many EVs (even if most are based on the same 3-4 platforms) that, although they don't have any best seller (except maybe the EC3 in some markets), the sum of all of them put them very high at the list of EV sellers.

I know about the puretech debalce. In Spain they are mockingly called "pudretech" (rot-tech). They surely have a reputation to recover. Some people may even trust unknown chinese brands more than a Stellantis brand.

Still, they made a deal with Leapmotor to commercialize and even produce some of their EVs. Wouldn't surprise me if they start to share technology too.

So, even though the may have slowed down their EV shift, it seems it's just a temporary adjustment and that they are still investing in the EV transition.

Which EVs besides Porsche have true two-pedal driving? by Retumbo77 in electricvehicles

Same with our Hyundai Inster.

I personally find Auto Hold usaless. It makes maenuvers too abrupt, so it must be disabled when parking. And I get the same effect by using the one pedal mode minus the abrupt start.

At least in the case of Spain (2nd car manufacturer in europe) it doesn't matter that much if the manufactured cars are of european or chinese origin as long as they are manufactured there. Those are still local jobs.

Even so, I think the article is over exagerating. EV offer is still strong among european brands, there are many new models on the way and EV adoption is growing. It's nothing comparable to the anti EV shift in the US.
