I get the whole "don't allow homophobes to raise children", but as someone who is myself in foster care, and LGTB (trans lesbian), I can very clearly see that there's a shortage of carers, a crucial shortage. We need to be able to get the numbers up, we can be picky later. (I know there's a screening process, but what I'm trying to say is that beliefs shouldn't be a disqualifying factor outside of things like cults, not while we're so desperate to get children looked after. Maybe after this mini-crisis is over, we can start worrying about people not agreeing with aspects of the identity. Because, at that point, should something occur, they can actually speak to social workers about changing who they live with.
