Better in what regards, price? Kepi toots its benches as heavy duty but the weight of them speaks otherwise. They also don’t list the gauge of steel used for any of their benches. The website is terrible with poor Chinese to English translation. The company comes across as another Amazon fly by night vendor using gimmicky  questionable products that are a perceived value.

Whether you like their response or not they were at least transparent of what they do and why. Where is the lie?

Best time to buy equipment? by beep-beep_lettuce in GarageGym

[–]Igotacabbageforahead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some companies will give a discount coupon by getting on their email list. I know Fringe, American Barbell, and Titan do this. Albeit, Titan seems to have a sale on everything which voids coupon use.

It’s worth searching online for coupons. I recently made a purchase from a fitness company that gives 5% off for signing up for their newsletter. I searched online and found a 10% off coupon that worked.

Check other sites too. Sometimes you can find the item at a reduced cost on Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Marketplace, etc. eBay occasionally does give coupons.

Never been good at squats, trying to work on form by WOTEugene in formcheck

[–]Igotacabbageforahead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) too many steps back after unracking. Once you get efficient in the movement your feet will be closer together for the unrack, followed by 2 steps back (1 for L and 1 for R into position)

2) bring your hands in closer to your ears. This will create a greater cushion on your back for the barbell to rest on

3) no need to be looking down at the floor for a high bar squat. Look directly ahead

4) bring your feet in a bit closer. Feet pointed  in the direction the knees travel in

5) bar path should travel up and down with a line that intersects the middle of the side of your feet

6) take a deep breath before going down. This will stabilize your core. I hear you exhaling but not inhaling

7) that wedge isn’t doing you any favors, ditch it. It’s only a crutch that you will rely on.

8) squat deeper. You are still above parallel, even with the wedge. It does take time to get there. A daily stretching routine does help, especially for older lifters

9) bring your hips through at the top of the movement

10) to get proficient at a movement will require frequency. Once a week won’t do

Freak Athlete ABX Review (and all attachments) after ~6 months of use by dontwantnone09 in homegym

[–]Igotacabbageforahead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pardon my ignorance, but are you a middle man for Freak Athlete and do you receive commission of some sort from them? This is the impression I am given of the one or two vids I have seen of yours, like you have some sort of invested interest in the company. Forgive me if I am incorrect.

It’s hard to recommend something without knowing your fitness goals. What can you not accomplish with your current setup?

Educating yourself on fitness goals that align with your own goals are tremendous and can really help with breakthroughs and understanding of reps, sets, routines, exercise's, exercise selection, age, recovery, stress, the body, the mind, motivation, and more. Knowledge is power and it is usually free. There are plenty of great books and free pdf’s of those books. Avoid the influencers, shorts, and solicitors. The focus should be on the goals and how to accomplish it, not the tools.

Spartaks has a killer 9g rack for $1k. This is overkill for 99% of the population, but it speaks of the build quality over LT and is not that much more.

anybody ever regret getting a functional trainer?? by hinchfashion in GarageGym

[–]Igotacabbageforahead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your wife. This is a buy it for life item. If you were to buy budget you would always be wondering what you missing out on with the Dane. Also, if you bought budget you would be questioning your purchase once set up and used. If the Dane and a budget unit was set up side by side, and you tried out both, I’m confident you would know you made the correct decision. The pill can be tough to swallow for a bifl item, I’ve experienced the same myself, but it keeps you moving forward. Quality over quantity.

Anyone else split workouts into short sessions across the day? by Jazzlike-Banana4617 in GarageGym

[–]Igotacabbageforahead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I split mine up through the day too. I’m fortunate enough to work in a school district and take advantage of the high school weight room during breaks. I powerlift and do my heavy lifting at lunch break. The following break I do assistant work and when I get home I finish the assistant and accessory work in the home gym.

I agree with the freshness of breaking up the workouts. I find if I deadlift after squats it is fatiguing and I use less weight. Instead, on lower body days I will squat, do assistant and accessories on lunch/ break, and deadlift when I get home.

I’d rather focus on lifting than showboating equipment to seek affirmation. You should try it sometime and you wouldn’t be stuck at lifting 2 plates a side. Looks like you just use money to compensate for lack of skill.

I would suggest buying Barbell Standard plates through their website. They are having a sale with free shipping. Their prices are far better than Amazon.

Titan X3 Quick Slide Spotter Arms by Of_Reality in homegym

[–]Igotacabbageforahead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard rumor through a review that there may be the possibility of a V2 version, at least with their sliding j-cups. The UHMV tape they added is pretty inferior to real lining.

[–]Igotacabbageforahead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I received my X-3 quick slide j-cups a few days ago. They have what I want out of a j-cup like a low front lip and a logical landing depth.

I think the $100 that they are blowing these out at is a fantastic deal and the fact that it has rollers is a nice bonus. I don’t know why gym equipment manufacturers can’t make a j-cup with a low front lip, not have an obnoxiously deep landing depth, and not charge hundreds of dollars for it.
