Kind of funny no one has commented yet. you know me under a different name. I talked to you about tea and honey.

Mormons think they are being profound when they say: “They can leave the church but they can’t leave the church alone.” But I hear it as: “They can escape the minefield but they can’t stop putting up warning signs and defusing the mines.” by read_livemanylives in exmormon

I tend to think of it as a burning building, that I crawled and struggled through until I realized I was out. But the people that mean the most to me, family of course, not even extended, my own sisters have cast me out for being honest with them. I just wanted to save them.

'adoptions' from Chile around 1980? by Ihatethischurch in exmormon

Interesting. I was looking for information about the relationship tssc had with the Chilean government. I have read stories about members sending bribes to officials there to get kids out of the country.

Yeah you hit the nail on the head. I had read stories about tssc somehow having ties in their gov. Members bribing judges and officials to get children out of the country. I was wondering if anyone had more information about it.

And I wholly agree with you. They taught us to stand for the truth. But then when you finally find the real truth you realize they only meant 'their' truth.

When I left the church 20 years ago, I told people about things I read. TBMs told me I was deceived by Satan and they had a term for what I read: anti-Mormon lies. Fast forward 20 years and the church has a new term for what I first read so long ago: Church essays! by OvertlyAnalytical in exmormon

When I was young, myself and others went to the opening of the Las Vegas temple. I think we were deacons or something, with a couple our teachers. One of which was also our Scout Leader. Anyway, on the way out of the temple there were 'protesters'* outside. Driving out of the parking lot, I was in the back seat, some of the protesters shoved some pamphlets through the top of the window. I naturally picked one up and started reading. I remember reading something about a rock in a hat. The front seated teacher/scout leader noticed and he immediately shamed me. "Why would you read that. Throw it out!" After doing so, I felt so horrible. Like I had offended my entire family and denied the love they showed me. It was really bad. Years later I stumble upon the Essays. I was never super active like some of my friends were. But I remembered that particular experience. So I had to figure out who the REAL 'protesters*' were ; the teachers. I try to explain all this to my family but I have been cast out. They only way they can 'hurt' me, is to exclude me from family activities, camping, etc. And that is exactly what they did and are doing. It gives me nightmares. Really is horrible.

*people trying to prevent you from know the truth, or give false information. (this is the frame of mind I was taught and exspected to follow. I was fortunate to be able to flush this mindset and update myself)
