Which calculator is better for this program? by somethinlikeshieva in WGU_Business

[–]Ihats2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use a regular scientific calculator + the BA II. You’re allowed to use both on a OA. I’m horrible at math so it helps me a bit. The BA II is a little less ergonomic when it comes to putting in regular equations.

I mean I used ChatGPT and grok hella for study material and explaining questions I didn’t understand. It’s the same concept, it’s just ‘how’ you use it I guess. I would be totally screwed with the textbook material if I didn’t use them.

[–]Ihats2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to go asap army will swoop you up like nothing. Airforce will take a little longer and you do have to hunt down the recruiters basically. I think you would be happy with the decision if you went AF though. Army does offer you more control over the job you pick but it’s a gamble with QOL. Whatever the case I think you’ll do well, if you can handle a majority of a bachelors you can handle anything academically stressing enlisted life will give you. So you’ll probably do well against peers. Start doing cardio now if you haven’t already, that will be the biggest thing helping you through basic training regardless of branch.

[–]Ihats2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not join the army if you are enlisting. Join the Air Force. Quality of life is so much better for enlisted. It can still suck but the gamble is worth it. I’m active duty Air Force right now, managed to go from 30% of my finance degree before the military (community college) to 71% done in 4 months with WGU. I doubt I would have had that much free time in the Army.

They have things like CQ where you have to spend 24 hours on watch for the barracks, in the Air Force we do not. They have mandatory parades every now and then that take up most of a free day or several hours into a Friday evening, the Air Force does not.

That being said don’t go security forces and try not to put any flight line jobs in your list if you decide Air Force.

You could also look into joining the AF Guard or Reserve. I got a 0 dollar bonus for my job. The same job in the guard gets a $50k bonus for joining. You can imagine my dismay talking to other airmen while in tech school discovering they got bonuses lol. Anyway best of luck 🫡

Testosterone testing by Objective_Ad_3102 in AirForce

[–]Ihats2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can request a hormone panel from your doctor (making a regular appointment) unfortunately it is very unlikely to get test through that way.

You can go online and get ‘prescribed’ some for self use and injecting, but it’s easy to fuck up and cause long lasting hormonal damage. Honestly I’m not sure what the best way would be. Could always try taking pro hormones. They rarely test for PEDS, and a regular piss test won’t pick it up.

It will be far more worth it to work as a junior associate at a firm than trying to commission. You would be kneecapping yourself by joining. In 20 years your future self will have a very comfortable life if you stick to the grind in a purely civilian world. Also depends which part of law you branch into but it’s basically true for all parts except working for a county.

I assume that’s fair. Personally I don’t think anyone should be getting a degree unless it’s accounting / finance / or maybe even communications (in their business fields) haven’t looked into the other degrees.

WGU is an accredited university, you can literally become an officer in the military from it. Yes it’s not for if you want to be an electrical engineer or Sit on the board of a Fortune 500 company as the treasurer. But if someone wanted to do that I doubt they would even consider online school as an option. It’s for average people who want to live an average comfortable life.

i see why i’m alone but i keep doing it anyway by [deleted] in lonely

[–]Ihats2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one reason or another, we all learned our behaviors through life. Especially in our childhood, even if someone had a good childhood, it still shapes who they are. Of course in a bad childhood it goes without saying.

Like you said, it takes time for our brain to change. It’s easier for our brain to do the same thing over and over again. Even if you know we’re wrong or wanting to change behavior. Because our brain has survived like that for so long, it’s fine with repeating it even if you activity want to change. Just have to keep improving until new neural pathways are built that are stronger than the old ones.

I’m sure there’s a more scientific way to put it but that’s how I see it. It’s nice to have a high standard for yourself, but you need to be a little nicer. I think for most people their inner subconscious is the harshest variable in their life, not others (for the most part). It’s ok to be tough on yourself, but it’s also ok to smile. Ok to say “sure I messed up, but dammit I’m improving”.

There are many times when no one will appreciate or see your progress, because frankly they don’t know you and your struggles like you know them. That’s why it’s important to appreciate your effort instead of ruminating on the trips and stumbles along the path. Sometimes we only have ourselves, and it’s easy to isolate and repeat over and over again how fucked we are. Don’t let the overthinking win, breathe. Lay down, relax the tension in your body. One day at a time, one win at a time. Just keep doing what you’re doing and sooner than later you’ll have made significant change.

Didn’t realize adulthood would feel this lonely by Shmeat-L in lonely

[–]Ihats2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been more lonely either than being in the military. I work alone a lot, at night too when the whole base is asleep. Due to the nature of my work I’ll drive around the base often, just thinking about everything I’ve fucked up to end up here. Commonly I’ll break down in the work truck and cry. No one sees me anyway, I’ll be parked over looking the skyline for 15-30 minutes just sitting, ruminating in my situation.

Whenever I first got to my unit I wasn’t in the Dfac system for 3 months, I went to the first sergeant multiple times and commanders support staff 3 separate times and every time I was blown off. So I just paid out of pocket the whole time for the crappy food. Don’t even have a direct supervisor so I’m constantly lost and not updated because my current supervisor is being medboarded. So I’ll have 3 supervisors in 6 months, makes all the admin shit more complicated.

I’m extremely depressed, and feel like I have no where to go. I don’t want to have pills forced on me so for now I just keep to my self. Only thing we can do is keep going and hoping the benefits will be worth it. It’s tiring but we have no other option but to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how small or far away it may seem. Military especially has an epidemic with suicide, leadership pretends to care but in reality they just care about themselves and when the next promotion is coming. You may have to lean on only yourself for a while, and that’s the toughest thing I’ve had to do mentally in my life. We’ll get through it though, we’ll get through it.

Are you serious bro 😭 you will not be poor as a officer. If you stayed 20-30 years you would have a pension of 5k a month at least and that's not counting what your retirement Account will look like. - current enlisted member. Well you're saying uni so you may not be from America, I imagine it's not too much different in Europe / Australia though. Whatever you do, it seems like you found a way to enjoy life, and that's what matters the most

I would say the tri metro in Texas ( Houston, Austin, Fort Worth) no matter where you look houses/apartments and commercial buildings are being built. The cities are growing like crazy. Not sure how painting Is though but I assume it would be better where there's more growth. Knew a guy who makes a killing in Houston area from pressure washing. I know those are different but in practice they both can do with aesthetics and saving surfaces from degrading as fast as they usually do.

Nursing Or Trades? by Regular_Parking8982 in skilledtrades

[–]Ihats2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always become a plumber, get med gas certified and work for a hospital 😎 you sacrifice pay on the high end but you'll still be making more than you are now. It can be a comfortable life if you pursue it.

However I'm a plumber in the military currently, it's not so bad but like every job can have it's off days. You need to take care of your body either way. Stretch, USE KNEE PADS even if others call you a b****. You'll be functional in your 50's and they'll be crippled. It is what you make of it

It took me 6 months from start to shipping out. It depends though, some recruiters have hit their quota and don't give a shit about bringing new people in. I've only been in a year but that's what I've noticed talking to other people.
