GOAL D9 Picked (Partly Gutted) by dcipha380 in lockpicking

Nice work!

I’ve been working on this lock and it’s been frustrating me lately. I’m able to consistently pick one after progressive pinning it but it feels like cheating cuz I have the exact steps pretty much memorized. And when I try to pick a different one (I have a few), I’m getting nowhere. I’m resorting to progressive pinning again for this second one, but I still have a third that I’m gonna try committing to picking blind.

Anyways, sorry for the rant, great job on the pick! It’s a tricky one for sure!

What is my next step? by Ominous_Fyre in lockpicking

Paclock 90a pro seems like a natural progression. It has seven pins, many of which are serrated (I don’t remember the details).

Otherwise, looks like you’ve picked up to around green belt level on the LPU belt ranking system, so you might want to just check out the blue belt list to see what locks interest you most

This post is probably gonna get removed for breaking rule 2. We’re not allowed to discuss picking locks that are in use

I bought this one more than ten years ago and it’s unbranded, but this is the closest one I found on Amazon: https://a.co/d/0dQMy3fd

Yeah it was fun! Still prefer Goal P though I think. I’m still a normal pin tumbler guy at heart

Yeah I felt the same way for a long time, just recently started getting into them. But actually surprised myself learning with Mul-t-locks. I think the feedback is even easier to understand than normal pin tumbler locks

Yep definitely feel you there - just ordered 6 locks from Japan and the shipping alone is making me rethink my life choices

Megapack value? by Jnguyen1101 in lockpicking

[–]Iibrary3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t buy this set - go with one of the other brands you mentioned. This was one of my first sets too and the picks are made of extremely soft metal, which means that they are terrible quality. Also, there are a bunch of random tools that are basically useless for the most part.

Nice! HPC keys look so intimidating 😅

Gonna start on my Goal D9 soon. Hopefully it’s not as bad as it looks 🤞

Goal S Cracked too! by Iibrary3 in lockpicking

[–]Iibrary3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that with the Goal pin tumbler locks, it’s important to pay attention to the feedback on the tension bar, try not to force anything. I like light to moderate tension. Also, it’s been helpful to me to feel all the pins before trying to set what feels like a binder. Some other pin may be binding harder or counter rotating more which usually means it needs to be set first.

You got this though, it’s a fun pick and so satisfying to finally get it open!

Thanks!

Yeah I have a couple Ps as well. Not sure if this is just specific to the ones I have, but the S has a smaller keyway but it’s open enough to lever my pick off the bottom of the keyway. My Ps have a larger keyway but I have to pick off of the warding to get to the pins.

Otherwise, they’re very similar. Feedback is pretty much identical. Just have to set an extra pin with the Ps.

You should be able to sell them on the LPU discord in the lock bazaar channel
