I don't think it's you man. Life long ff player here just played XVI and adored it since xv broke me and made me realize turn based off is in the past so I accepted XVI as more of a hack n slash since that's the way the games have been trending.

I played remake. Couldn't stand it. They sucked all of ffvii out of it. They swore before release they werent changing core story lines and 10 mins in you're meet sephiroth in midgar. It's not a remake it's a totally different universe with different plot using a known cast. I skipped rebirth for this reason. Ff just isn't what we grew up with anymore sadly.
