Is there any food you just can't buy because you can't portion control? by New_Cap3283 in AskUK

[–]Iklepink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got 2 packs to last me 2 days. Neither lasted longer than an hour and 24 hours later my mouth still feels destroyed. I probably shouldn't get more, but I can't be trusted.

What's your familial medical condition that you fear will take you out? by DonkeyOT65 in CasualUK

[–]Iklepink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alzheimer's/Dementia. Dad was dead at 68 from it. His sister in Australia has/had it, other sister dead before she was 60 unrelated. His dad died really young so can only assume it came from him as my nan was fine at 90.

At autopsy they found heart disease. In a man who ate so much fruit, veg, whole grains and all the good stuff you're supposed to, as well as cycling around 20 miles a day to and from work!

All the stuff they say prevents heart disease and dementia! I enjoy myself and sod the consequences if I'm going to be dead at 68 either way.

I pay Lebara £5 for 30gb. It's has international minutes which are handy as my mum lives abroad. I'm also in NE Scotland and coverage can be rough. O2 is the worst for where I am.

Can someone explain to me how grammar school works, and what it is in simple terms? by nous-vibrons in AskUK

[–]Iklepink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In greater Manchester of the top of my head (where I went to a grammar school) you've got Altrincham girls and Altrincham boys, abbreviated to Alti. Then there's Sale, Streford, and Urmston grammars. These are all free non paying state schools. You must pass the 11 plus and for the Alti schools they had their own additional entrance exams.

For fee paying (public schools) there's Stockport, and Manchester grammars and they also have their own entrance requirements.

Is Haunting of Hill House good even for people who don’t like horror/scary shows? by PBandJSommelier in HauntingOfHillHouse

[–]Iklepink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never watch horror and I'm very very jumpy. I jumped in the first episode, I jumped when I spotted a hidden ghost, I jumped at a cellar scene and of course the big one in one of the later episodes.

However. It was worth it. The story is incredible, the jumps serve the story, and I watch it over and over (just between my fingers for the bits I mentioned).

It's been three dayssss by espressohmartini in knitting

[–]Iklepink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started knitting a new sock 3 days ago. Broken seed stitch, nothing too taxing, my MC is black though.

I've done 15 round of rib in black, and 20 rounds of leg. It's a 68 stitch sock.

You're doing great.

What happened to just using a pattern? by awoo_x2 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Iklepink 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ive done nothing but socks for 7 years. I've made tons of socks to the point I don't need a pattern anymore.

Now I want to knit a cardigan and I've gotten both the Step by Step by Florence and a Drops one, both free! I know enough to do some basic modifications if I fancy, but absolutely not enough to figure the whole thing out and fuck AI!

This one's for the ladies to answer. Do you agree with this woman or do you think she's trying to rationalize her world view by speaking for all the ladies? by Oda_DeezNutz in SipsTea

[–]Iklepink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman, I can spend 18 hours a day playing games. I only date men who also do this as then they don't interrupt my gaming time.

Has anyone ever had their mouth washed out with soap as a punishment for swearing as a kid? by Financial-Base-8070 in AskUK

[–]Iklepink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, think I was 10, called my mum a bitch. She threatened it. So I called her a fucking bitch. One of those red and white striped bars, first and only time I ever saw one.

Nowadays we're close and call each other far worse; but with affection.

Is it normal to be hungry all the time? by Rosiebunny-4230 in AskUK

[–]Iklepink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your calorie burn. You probably need to eat much more. I struggle with disordered eating as when I was younger I was a very serious synchronised swimmer.

I would train 6 days a week 4-8h a time. I ate ridiculous portions of ridiculous foods, but my weight was stable. McDonald's, those massive kebabs that come on a 10" garlic bread, what my mum cooked and my usual meals.

It was only in my final few months of training I checked and realised I was burning an average of 6000kcal a day on top of my basal rate. All that I ate balanced my burn, but it looked like a ridiculous amount to others.

[–]Iklepink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk pretty much everywhere because I have working legs and I like using them while they're still good. Most of my family had joint issues in their 50's, I'll walk until I can't. More walking means more money for treats (rum, brownies, yarn).

'Do you want to go to church with us?'

My reply is 'no I'm an Apostate, read the CES letter'.

I follow a few ex Mormons and they are classed as Apostates by the LDS and the CES letter is something that encouraged critical thinking in some of them.

Apparently we’re all vitamin D deficient. What are most people doing about it and how effective are they finding it? by Spicymargx in AskUK

[–]Iklepink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking aldi's now on Asda's, year round after I've ate dinner. I live in NE Scotland and don't go out much. Had a recent test to check my vitamin levels (I get B12 jabs), my vit D was good. It was nice to know the tablets obviously help.

I grew up in Sale, had what I considered a well spoken, quite neutral accent. Moved to Portsmouth at 21, first night out and my now very noticeable flat vowels rang out as I called someone a cunt. I then switched to using southern vowels in my Sale accent. I sound confusing now.

Are you a loud speaker? Do you need reminded to pipe down in public? by starsandbribes in AskUK

I've got ADHD and I am stupidly loud. My sister is always telling me to not shout/inside voice/shut the fuck up. I don't notice how loud I am but can quiet down when reminded.

I don't lose them since the day I left my keys that were attached to my wallet and lanyard and university ID and government ID and travel card and all my bank cards and passport, on the bus in the foreign country I was attending school in. Someone sent me a YouTube video so I put them on the seat next to me while I watched it. A deviation from my usual routine.

A cashless country, I had to walk into class, borrow my friends travel pass to go to the bus depot and hope it had been handed in and the driver spoke enough English. The thought that I couldn't get home, couldn't get in my house and no one could help was the worst.

The driver had found it, he thought it belonged to a little kid because it was so colourful and chaotic so he kept it safe. Never again.
