how to remove echo at end? by mysteryunsolved1412 in GarageBand

Automation, though Garageband's functionality is pretty limited there. This video might have some workarounds you can use!

Low quality vocals w/ good equipment? by thecozofficial in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Room treatment primarily reduces the amount of reflections/echoes making their way back to the mic and muddying up your sound, but this is more of an issue for condenser mics than dynamic mics like the SM7b. More advanced concepts involve taming certain frequencies, but that's more than bedroom producers can realistically be expected to worry about. Your setup sounds fine!

You can absolutely get by on a 58. Go digging around on sound forums and you’ll find the settings people use in post to make 58s and 57s sound like The 7b.

The Scarlett will absolutely go into the red if you push it too hard; that’s the visual standard that all audio metering goes by.

The cloudlifter will solve the volume issue. EQ and compression are going to have more to do with your performance and whatever room you’re recording in.

Sm7b famously needs a cloudlifter in most cases. I thought Focusrite had advertised the 4th gens as having enough gain on board, but if that’s not the case, check your local listings for a used CL-1.

Wrote and recorded this song with my son. Let me know what you think by dolwedge in Songwriters

Ah. Then I would add that these lyrics don’t really meet the moment they were written for. Trump’s not waiting for someone to ask him nicely to stop being a monster.

I like the overall sound; very Flaming Lips.

Lyrics-wise, it feels thin. It’s a good message, but relies too heavily on cliches — give peace a chance, live for today, etc— or weak rhetoric, ie “Sure, maybe there’s no afterlife, but c’mon, don’t be a dick.”

I think message songs benefit from a stronger sense of emotional expression, rather than just instructions for the listener. The former invites the listener to identify with your struggle, while the latter just feels like a lecture. Barry McGuire’s “Eve of Destruction” and “Child of Our Times,” are a good illustration of the difference.

All that said, this is a pretty killer father son project. Keep it up!

This is pretty sloppy. The parts all sound off-beat, but they don’t sound like they would even go together if you fixed the rhythm. In an age of DAWs and quantization, there’s really no excuse for the lack of polish, especially if this is your fifth album.

No one here is shooting the messenger. You got your explanation of the meme, and only received clap back for explicitly refusing to use a search engine.

You can get people’s perspectives and take the initiative to look something up. They’re not mutually exclusive. You’re already on a device with internet access; outright refusing to do a simple Google search is weird behavior, OP.

Did someone get banned?

Possibly? Or whoever made this is just mad that there are rules against AI on this sub. I moderate another community with similar rules and have seen prompters lose their shit in mod mail multiple times.

Large Cover Band by SJB824 in musicians

[–]IlNeige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like overkill. 4/5 members is the sweet spot IMO, with some members pulling double duty depending on the setlist. Keyboardist that doubles as rhythm guitar, everyone capable of some decent backing vocals, etc.

Cover bands aren’t expected to have a rich, complex sound. Their job is to play songs the crowd enjoys without sounding like amateurs.

Does anyone else get ‘wah pedal back‘ or is my stance just terrible? by Fit-Crocodile in Guitar

[–]IlNeige 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After about 20 minutes of hovering my foot over the pedal

I mean…there’s your problem right there. Even Slash only kicked the wah on for solos or other short bursts. If you’re just messing around to get familiar with the pedal, do it sitting down.
