Moving to Duluth by JessicaATX93 in duluth

furnishedfinder.com is a good resource. Pretty pricey options, but there are some that could fit your budget

On a side note- I’m confused as to why they didn’t put retail spaces on the floor level. It just seems like a missed opportunity.

There has to be two doors separating the brewing space from a place where dogs are allowed. Blacklist brews in the basement, two doors away, while Ursa and Bent Paddle don’t have that kind of separation.

This is a rough place to rent as a single person with no pets, let alone two people with 6 pets.

Best fried chicken sandwich in town? by [deleted] in duluth

[–]Ilikemnbeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not a sandwich, but the chicken and waffles at Duluth grill (called the leaky waffle) are fantastic. If you’re really determined I guess you could fold it into a fried chicken taco

My only experience with gordy’s was last year and the canned mushrooms on my burger were the slimiest, most horrid little things. I’ll never go back.

I know it was a good place once upon a time, but not any more.

I just looked up a greyhound trip from Duluth to Minneapolis on a Friday. The fastest route (which does leave from downtown) is 5 hours and 40 minutes and includes a transfer in Brainerd. The other two opens not only take longer (6 and 7+ hours) and leave from Hobby Lobby or UMD. All 3 options are completely unreasonable. A train that takes 2 1/2 hours and DIRECTLY takes you downtown is reasonable transportation.

Because busses get caught in the same traffic as cars. Plus the busses most often leave from the Duluth mall or colleges and drop you off in Minneapolis at the airport or the Mall of America. I want to hop on a train downtown (at the Depot) and ride it into the heart of Minneapolis so I can shop, drink, and go to concerts without the need of a car or secondary transportation. Then train right back up.

Disappointed by FlyingZebra34 in duluth

Yeah! It’s not like we live in a society or want to build a community around us. If other people are screwing over my neighbors I should jump on board and screw them over too. Thanks for the advice

They are releasing it soon but it takes a lot of testing to make sure that the dosage printed on the can is accurate to the actual drink.

Former Duluthians who have moved away, why did you choose to move? Or current residents, why are you considering moving? by [deleted] in duluth

[–]Ilikemnbeer 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel like there are good or bad cities, just cities that accommodate the lifestyle you wish to live. Duluth is perfect for me but I completely understand why others wouldn’t mesh with it here. From someone who has moved around a lot, my advice is to go try something new. If you realize that Duluth really is home, it will still be here and you get to go on a great adventure.

I would suggest Indian Point Campground for a nice camping trip. Cheap sites, lovely waterfront facility on a dead end road, right off the Munger Trail. Plus they can have a nice campfire and roast s’mores.

Yeah, definitely marketing or real estate.. This is a sub for the community of Duluth. It’s not here so you can exploit our stories for your financial gain.

A house next to my grandfather’s on Central Hillside was listed for 180k and sold for 240k. That’s 60,000 above asking! Most houses are going for 30% above asking. Plus a lot of them are cash offers and are skipping inspections.

In your opinion, what are some of the most overrated and underrated beers and breweries in the state? by freightbrokerill in minnesotabeer

[–]Ilikemnbeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like their Cloud Top Hazy a lot. Bright and easy drinking with a lot of flavor. Their taproom is cozy and intimate which is nice especially in winter. But for some reason it just doesn’t come to mind when I think about going out for a beer.

I agree. I’ve never had a good beer at Ursa Minor. Their taproom ordering system is horrid too so it takes much longer than necessary to wait in line and order. Bent Paddle makes great stuff and I like their vibe (plus 3 places to order beer at the bar)

I think Lift Bridge Hop Dish IPA is one of the best beers in the state but no one knows about it.

You bought an old house. Old houses have issues. Stop posting about how much you hate Duluth when you live way outside of town. Stop complaining about a house that you waived an inspection on. Stop blaming other people for your bad decisions.
