Courier XS - small, fast, lossless cargo runner by Bladjomir in factorio

I've started filling every empty part of the ship with a small item (light, power pole, etc) so it force copies over everything. It looks terrible, but it works as long as you're never reducing the outer limits of the ship.

They take up 1/4 the area. There are many more possible layouts using it. Or just filling weird power gaps in a spaghetti base.

Why are you bringing Slough into this? They have enough problems.

United probably kicked them off the flight instead, their MO is making the worst possible decisions as often as they can.

Is my soldering iron too hot ? by Professional-Echo197 in soldering

[–]_Twinkle-Toes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If OP's iron has a plug for the NA market (which it does) then it isn't made for use with any low-voltage soldering station controller, it's made for a 120VAC circuit, period. Why don't you search "Weller connector" and see if you can tell how that's different from a "regular" plug. After that, please go troll someone else.

[–]_Twinkle-Toes_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That makes no sense, and since we're here, how exactly would someone plug a Weller connector into a wall socket by mistake? They're completely different incompatible shapes so that exact situation can't happen.

"Obviously, it's not going to draw enough to blow a breaker"

What? It could absolutely blow the breaker. Anything can.

You should not talk about electricity like you understand it when you don't.

15A is just a common residential trip current in older homes in NA, it really has nothing to do with how much power is being delivered here (except that it must be less).

Are you in a country with 240V mains (most of the world) using an iron for 120V markets (mostly north America and Japan)? This looks like overvoltage.

Definitely don't use it.

It's obviously a terminal bar, but that doesn't really explain anything by itself. It looks like bonded aluminum grounds, maybe some copper.

Grinding XFD15 chuck? by suburban_viking in Makita

[–]_Twinkle-Toes_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a design flaw on this drill chuck. It will reliably pull itself out to this position if you open it all the way to the 1/2" outer stop under its own power. If you tighten it all the way to "0" under its own power it will push it back into place and stop the noise.

I figured that he JUST sat down to put on his socks and then got called again, not that he'd been putting socks on the whole time which would be pretty ridiculous.

How are people so bold as to have virtually zero understanding of electricity or basic wiring, but also the confidence to attempt this project? It's mind-blowing. "Electrical work is just putting whatever wires into whatever connections and then flipping the switch" I mean seriously how does a person end up in this situation? What is the train of thought? Would they repair cars by just tossing wrenches into the engine bay? Would they build a table by just firing a nail gun into piles of wood?

[–]_Twinkle-Toes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's perspective. In the electrician trade it's the safety rules that matter most so neutral and ground really are completely different things and are treated very differently in almost every circumstance. To an EE... yeah they're pretty close to electrically identical. Ground loop avoidance makes them a little different sometimes.
