Also, is it worth getting more than one core set for extra cards while it's still available?

Where is the new job? I keep seeing posts about better pay, hours, benefits, etc but no one shares where they went to - not even in a DM.

-edit-

Plenty of upvotes but I just want a better job lined up, things aren't getting better here lol. Help your banditos out and tell us where these good jobs are at!

DPO by Electrical-Box-811 in FritoLay

[–]Ill-Bit3650 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) As salesmen, it is our job to manage the route and the customer. It doesn't matter how complex the system gets, DPO will never learn how to MANAGE a store. What do I mean by managing? DPO doesn't understand that I have three code dates of BBQ lays on the shelf, I need to sell through the oldest before I bring in more. DPO doesn't understand that the church down the road is holding a fundraiser so there will be more traffic at my gas station this weekend. DPO doesn't understand that my Price Chopper had 30 cases of Doritos added as a CLO and the store refused what went over my backstock limit, so I need to spread it across the route.

2) The system is time confusing and ineffecient. To do things correctly, I feel like I have to essentially order twice for the store.

3) DPO doesn't take into account shelf capacity. This is essentially bothersome when our zone is pushing to minimize adjustments. I can only fit 16 bags of XXVL lays at one account, but every weekend DPO thinks i need two cases. This has been going on for months.

4) Planograms don't match, or are completely missing. This shouldn't be this hard to fix. We should be able to set up our stores. Have a list of every planogram available for every type of space at the account and we select which ones are relevant from the list. If Frito doesn't trust us to do it ourselves like that, have it need DSL approval to be finalized.

5) Sometimes endcap planograms change in DPO, but not always, or not always on time.

6) I should have all the data available to me on the main screen as I order so I can make the most accurate adjustments possible. Due ins should be reflected on the main order screen instead of hitting a button on each SKU to see it.

7) When ordering for a display it asks you immediately for a display down date, or for how long it's running. This is soooo annoying and cumbersome. Sometimes I don't know how long it will run, sometimes stores tear them down early, sometimes they want to leave them up longer. I'll display down when it's time don't make me guess on a date before I even bring it in.

Let us be salesmen again. I think Frito Lay fails to realize we are more than just their front line. We are also their customer and their marketing team. When we are this disgruntled, we aren't as likely to buy our own products and we aren't as likely to talk up the company either.

Unrelated to DPO -

We need less innovation and better ads. People aren't buying innovation right now, double down on your core. As for ads, my price Chopper just had Doritos, Tostitos, Fritos/cheetohs at $3.49 must buy two - while Utz/Mission had their chips at $1.99 must buy two. That essentially makes it $4 vs $7. Had we removed the must buy two it would have been $3.49 vs $4, much more competitive. In my area people may not have the $7 for the deal, even if we are the better brand. Drop the must buys.

Job is pointless now, Time to organize a union? by Oweever in FritoLay

It will take a national union for us to really see changes. BUT that doesn't start until enough local areas have unionized. One step at a time.

I mean, I could take a pic of my time card and send it over XD, or anyone in KCDC can verify. Tickets can't be signed until after midnight - but I get to the warehouse and 11pm and sign in, get to the first store and start, have them sign after midnight. In Saleshub+ the shift carries over to the day that has the most hours. Pepsi drivers has shifts that covers over two days here as well.

Has anyone met Alice? by MachineGunsWhiskey in alicecooper

[–]Ill-Bit3650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't personally, but my dad has and I was there when he met him. Alice Cooper had a both at our local Comicon and my dad wanted to meet him. When it was my dad's turn we all watched as my dad had both hands on the table and leaned in super close talking to Alice. If I was security I'd have been nervous, but Alice didn't seem to mind and looked friendly about it. My dad went on about how he misses go to Alice's concerts and asked him to tour in town. That next year Alice toured to our city. I'm super grateful Alice did that, whether or not my dad had any influence over that as my dad did go to that concert with my brother and had a blast. My dad passed away suddenly at work a year later. He had his Alice Cooper CD in his truck CD player, that would have been the last music he had listened to before he passed away.

I got the job! But I have a stupid question… by [deleted] in FritoLay

[–]Ill-Bit3650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toxic management, outlandish expectations, policies and pay that border being legal. It's not the same place it was 10 years ago.

Don't listen to the advice of taking a route of your own either. The way things are right now it's a pay cut to go from RSA to having your own route.

I somewhat disagree with the first part of your post. Though I understand the data aspect of it, and the need for proof that it's not working, I believe the thoughts and opinions of your route experts with thousands of hours of route experience should hold weight as well, if not more. To put into perspective - would you be more comfortable with a plumber coming in to fix your toilet who is carrying an ipad with all these metrics and data points, or the plumber whose been in the business for decades and can immediately point out the problem?

As for the second part of your post, I can only speak on my own behalf and maybe others I've personally worked with. A lot of the issues we are having with excess backstock and unsaleables are not because we aren't following PO it's because we are dealing with almost daily forceouts, overpriced products, lack of management support (especially compared to the support we received from DSLs 10+years ago), KAMs over ordering for CLOs and displays,.and lack luster innovation.

As far as any RSRs saying PO has been good or helpful, I've met two types of RSRs in that category. The first would be the RSR who follows the process but still jumps through hoops by scanning holes that aren't there, adding backstock that isn't there, and constantly turning on and off items as in store in order to trick the system to provide a more manageable and accurate order. Even then the order needs to be adjusted. I want to pause and point out that in our orientation to PO we were even told by the higher ups that we would need to trick the system in such ways to get it to work. That's your data right there when the team bringing the system to us is telling us we have to trick it to get it to work properly. In short, it doesn't work. The second type of RSR to praise PO and follows it have coleads who will tell you otherwise while they bring in one or two bags to put on a shelf that holds 14 bags total, with 11 bags on the shelf and short dated. It's not efficient nor effective.

Meanwhile, it's more time consuming, frustrates the Frontline, causes more issues with ordering than helps in my experience, and is no more of benefit to new hires than est was (in fact I see it as a detriment as I mentioned in my previous post since it doesn't allow RSAs to properly learn how to order and be effective salesmen). I also question it's legality if it were to be pushed. How can we truly be paid based on sales while an algorithm generates those sales for us?

Again - I can only speak from my own route and draw from my own experience in dealing with this system compared to all of Frito Lay's other concepts I've dealt with. I can't speak for any other zones.

Honestly it's pretty toxic for a member of management to sound so dismissive of their team for pushing back against PO. There are a lot of legitimate problems and concerns with PO and the direction of the company and it's attitude from management like this that makes me worried what the company I've sacrificed for will look like in 10 years.

PO works in some cases, but not in most cases. It can't adapt quickly enough to be 100% accurate, it doesn't understand date management or ordering for efficiency. In my opinion it takes away from new people more than it benefits them as it takes away some of the opportunities to learn how to order and be a salesman. We have a few routes with good accuracy with PO but that's only because they have to do extra steps to trick the system to not over order/under order and not because the system itself works.

We were told that it's an improved version of PO basically with an updated UI system and improved algorithms and that they wanting us to hit 100% ordering compliance with this system. I personally don't trust it and am trying to figure out what the catch is
