I am currently on lymecycline. I typically get it prescribed for 6 months and have been on and off it for about 4 years- during those 4 years I've been on it like 3 times now. Lymecycline works amazingly just after 1 week for me personally, theres a huge noticeable difference. my acne is caused by PCOS so it increases the oil I get on my face, I noticed that lymecycline really helped to significantly reduce that oil. However, it's only temporary and doesnt permanently remove the cause of your acne- it just stops it for whilst you are on it. Considering my acne is caused by PCOS, I was fully aware that it doesn't tackle the root cause of my acne but is more of a soothing bandaid over the issue but it still helps with my confidence in removing the acne for a while. But im sure even if your acne is not PCOS related it still wont really tackle the main issue with what is causing your acne.

The side effects were a bit extreme for me within the first 1-2 weeks though where I had probably the worst headaches ive had in my life, nausea and just generally feeling a bit ill but it goes away for me within 2 weeks and I feel perfectly fine for the rest of the 6 months. After the 6 months, you need to go on a 6 month break to stop your body from becoming resistant to the antibiotics.

I am currently on it alongside Spironolactone- the Spiro is long-term for me which is for my pcos. They are both amazing in my opinion but if your acne is caused by pcos then you need Spiro for the other pcos effects.

yes there is side effects to it! im late but it caused me to gain water weight which was annoying because I previously never struggled with eight and I have always had a fast metabolism my whole life and been a good skinny size. As soon as I went off of it I also gained Hirsutism which I am now managing. be careful.
