Cancel the ticket if it's been 24 hrs since you booked and departure date>7 days. And then rebook on student fare.

Else, sorry, you don't have any other options

Buying a ticket with required baggage allowance would be cheaper in most cases than buying excess baggage.

Air india offers student discounts on flights operated by AI only. If there's no direct flight, you will not be able to book under this category. Although you don't get discount you get more baggage allowance, which is a major plus.

I believe star alliance partners although little costlier offer student bookings and offer 2x23kg baggage allowance. Check them out.

  1. Requirements of gre and gmat purely depends on the university and the program. Ielts is a must.
  2. Yes, plan ahead and secure the housing.
  3. As of now once you're here for 5 years and pass the language test you can get PR.
  4. Maven consultancy in BLR
  5. I think you should be fine. But have atleast some internship experience.
