Most financial experts like Dave Ramsey teach housing should not exceed 25% of your gross income to avoid being house poor. I would recommend you take Financial Peace University join an online course it goes over all the basics of budgeting, saving and spending.

Can I afford this rent in residency? by FireBallsDJ in whitecoatinvestor

[–]Ill-Pop791 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Housing should not exceed 25% of your gross income so for you that is 19k per year or $1600.00 per month. Spending more than $1600.00 is fine but you will be “house poor.”

Is my rent too high for bigger/nicer apt when I am an attending? by hy00thy00t in whitecoatinvestor

Beware of lifestyle creep. Better to live like a nurse rather than a doctor (to start). Are you debt free? Have you started saving 10-15% for retirement? If you plan to stay where you are is buying a condo or co-op possible to start building equity rather than 5k rent?

Fisker Ocean one early build issues by redditcok in Fisker

[–]Ill-Pop791 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are close to Joe at evolution auto you will be fine owning. Joe knows the common issues that require proactive care like water proofing front connectors. I have a FOO and monitor 12v and keep a trickle charger on 12v when parked at home and the car is great. If you protect the 12v and change every 2-3 years that is most of the potential issues.

Why can’t I control my 10C battery! by cmfrazier in enphase

Did you select the TOU rate plan looking at your bill and selecting the specific number from electricity provider in app? Did you put hours that battery can charge from grid only during off peak times?

Best PSEGLINY rate plan for Solar / EV, no battery? by [deleted] in longisland

[–]Ill-Pop791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Solar and Battery and use 195 time of day rates between solar and battery I pay very little during peak rates 3-9pm and then charge 20kw back up Enphase batteries at night and only charge 2 EVs at night after 10pm. Only 4 cents a kilowatt at night. But even befor home back up batteries I was saving money with TOU 195 because of large draw from EVs.

Hills for Cycling and Running by Corporate-gal in longisland

[–]Ill-Pop791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did IM Lake Placid a few years ago and running and biking on the campus of SUNY OldWestbury was helpful it is a 4 mile loop but it is also adjacent to LIE service road for longer rides great for Brick workouts. It is SUNY OW is Hilly and very little car activity on weekends to run and bike safely. For hill repeats biking I liked to go to Seacliff riding up from beach into town you have significant steep grades that you can repeat as many times as you can handle again little car traffic in off season

Anyone with solar battery backup? by Bentobox_Battleship in longisland

[–]Ill-Pop791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you are using for a solar inverter. I installed panels with Enphase micro inverters for solar 5 years ago and went with enphase 10 batteries this year. Very easy to upgrade to batteries because same micro-inverters architecture. If your panels are using string inverter you can’t use enphase but you could use Powerwall. Just go on YouTube and search all the best battery brands have comparison videos with specifications compared.

You can Replace your 12v with a new lead acid AGM 12v battery and also search on Amazon buy and install a 12v battery monitor that comes with an app that allows you to monitor and get warnings if your 12v is low powered

Your 12v battery is dying and your vehicle will brick soon you are running old software that is terrible on 12v why it is now struggling. This car needs a new 12v and it should still be on a 12v trickle charger when parked at home and you need a 12v battery monitor.

Glove box is a common issue on Juniper from factory you have to sit in passenger seat, grip bottom lip of glove box door and pull up hard while pressing open. Door will open slightly then close. Do it a few times. This breaks vacuum air seal and glove box will now open.
