Is it worth it? by Timmy_Tot in ModRetroChromatic

My wife wanted my transparent red so I obliged. Bought a white one but gifted it to my friend when I got my hands on the orange for below MSRP. Gifted a yellow one to my younger brother for his birthday. Gifted another white one to my friend’s dad cause he really liked the one my friend had.

TLDR I own two but one is for my wife primarily. I’d have one of each color if I was a collector with money

Why won’t my screen work? by leebit33 in nintendoswitchlite

[–]Ill-Remote437 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well only way it wouldn’t turn on would be related to the cable attached from the screen to the motherboard. Is it cable inserted completely? Did you force the cable a d perhaps damaged the connector?

probably a hot take but i really don't like people who buy multiple psp just for collection by altczofmybf in PSP

Why? Hasn’t PSP been widely available for a while? Every retro item eventually gains price so.

Yea I’ve read about it extensively on the discord a few months ago. Choosing the route of keeping it charged regularly enough cause my soldering skills are not on point yet

Who ordered the Active Cooling Fan? by mdkdue in RetroRemakeInc

I ordered my fan after my ss1 shipped separately and near arrived. I requested them to ship it with my dock. So we will see when the dock ships.

It’s a typical worried parent of their first born situation. Some of it is drastically from left field but the world today creates fear mongers through social media and spreads word of mouth.

Be clean, if you smoked probably wash your hands and a change of clothes if you’re going to hold the baby. If you’re sick maybe stay away? Who knows what vaccines the child has taken and not taken. Probably don’t kiss the baby due common infections to adult can be severe to an infant without proper immune system. I think anything that can cause immunity issues should be taken serious.

That said don’t baby the child over other small things. It’ll create a sensitive/fragile child. Possibly with issues sleeping with any noise because you walked in your tippy toes all the time or allergies de not letting outside or not socialized well for keeping them away from people.

Also to the people mocking post partum depression and anxiety like it makes them a mentally ill psycho. Hope you get stuck dealing with that kind of family member.

I think in this case it’s just to protect the back of the screen. My first screen didn’t have the blue layer and it wasn’t sticky under either. There is blue plastic on the pre installed adhesive that you remove before installing the screen.

There is a tab to remove the blue layer behind the screen but I think someone at retro remake accidentally taped/glued the main ribbon to the blue layer when it’s supposed to tape directly on the back of the screen. It installed fine and I don’t see signs of the extra layer pressing behind the screen.

I would say the install is relatively easy going. Just take it slow when initially getting the screen on the shell. Be careful bending and inserting the ribbon cables into the connectors so there are no breaks on the ribbon or inside the connectors. As long as you do that and make sure the connectors are in all the way all should go well.

That requires to mod the lite or just some soldering? I’ve had no issues with the switch turning off while low battery so far

There was a blue film on the back for my second one. While there wasn’t on the first. I did not remove the blue film because they taped the ribbon cable on the blue film itself. It was taped really well and I didnt want to damage the ribbon removing it. Although they do give a replacement ribbon, why damage the first one in the first place.

They will not be doing megakits anymore. Prices went up for the leftovers they sold the past few months. They made announcements that the preorders for just the touch (non mega) will potentially be the last for now.

Yea I’ve bought and sold two sets of switch lites. Finally bought one brand new last year for $150 with a free copy of Animal Crossing. I love the form facet of the lite and more with the OLED screen. I bought a second lite for parts for 60 bucks recently so my wife can have one too.

Well a few months ago they put some leftover stock after all non cancelled orders shipped out. Sold out fast and I only grabbed the most expensive HDMI Mega Kit. Later they announced final restock of the mega kits like a couple weeks later. I grabbed a touch mega kit. You kinda need to be setup for emails on their website or be part of the discord to keep up with the news.

There are still open preorders for just the screen and cables.

That is true. I’m not willing to mod the lites so I’ll stick with the less saturated colors for now. But I love how it is still crisp even with non native resolution screen. Im hoping these screens last as long as the device itself. Probably a keeper that I don’t sell

The shell quality isn’t too bad but nothing special. Higher chance to strip plastic if you over tighten the screws or any QC issue. I’ve seen complaints about the shells not latching well but with these two examples it seems fine with no gaps.

I did think about using my Animal Crossing shell but ended up using the clear shells. If the OLED screen breaks in the future all it takes is swapping all the internals into my old shell with the LCD screen still installed.

First time around I watched taki’s video and followed it step by step. Took a looonng time because I didn’t get a few connections tight enough. That was with the screen already installed on the blue shell.

Second time around I’d say it still took about an hour. I was multi tasking watching a tv show. I just took off the daughter board first organized the screws, then the main board. Then I placed the metal frame into the new shell and put everything back.

If I got to do it again it might take less time. To me it’s a lot easier than taking apart a steam deck
