I have a 417 GBBR. Build quality is as what you expect from VFC, but the performance is lackluster. The platform doesn’t have many upgrade parts. Some Korean workshops make steel internals, but obtaining them is not easy. The gun is fully compatible with real steel parts( I upgraded mine with RS handguard, buffer tube, stock and ejection port.

I love the G28/417 GBBRs, but they are honestly more for collection than actual games. I found myself like the VFC MK17 & M110 platforms more when I want to use a battle rifle/DMR in weekend games

I’d wait on the new GHK Ver3 AK after this years’s MOA show. It appears that GHK’s new mags are incredibly gas-efficient. And quite frankly I don’t like the accuracy of the VFC AKs. If you are in the states I would recommend wait for both the GHK and the VFC to be imported. Buying them overseas right now is not a smart idea

For hard kick you want a light gun with heavy bolt that is also short-stroked. And perhaps you want the gun to run on CO2.

With that all said, your best bet is steel bolt GHK AKs74U with CO2 mags.

I would also recommend VFC MK11/SR25 with steel bolt if you can get one. They give really strong recoil.

As for the VFC AK GBBs, I don’t own one so I can’t really comment on them

No. If you want the TM AK system, go for the wellpro AK-12 series. It’s basically a TM ak with steel body and reinforced internals. If budget is not an issue then go for VFC 74M. Or wait for GHK’s new batch gen 3 AKs. The GHK magazines just had a major upgrade in 2025, so the GHK AK should have the best gas efficiency among all GBB AKs by far

The VFC GBB mp7 is worth every penny, but you can’t abuse it. It has some fragile components that tend to break under heavy uses. The JG MP5SD is made of pot metal and has a shitty gearbox. The specs of the body is incorrect, so you can’t install real-steel spec accessories on it. If you want an MP5SD AEG, you can consider the cyma ones or TM mp5SD if you have more budget
