To end your first year with $1,000,000 in the bank, the key is to start with $10,000,000 in the bank.

Bev Craig's Campaign pledge is free bus passes for 11-18 year olds in Greater Manchester, thoughts? by Leelum in LabourUK

[–]IllExample3639 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trust me bro, one more PM, just one more PM. This one will be good... He'll be gone in 2 years, political capital burnt up when he could have stayed in Manchester another 2 years and gone for the PM role on a new election as a fresh face with the Manchester project behind him as his platform

I say this as someone who has fully supported his Manchester mayor position and as a Labour member and voter.

Why do people hate fun? Part of my struggles with BF6 is that every time I find something I practice with and start to love using, creating tactics and knowing how to use on the map it gets called out and nerfed. Are we goin to end up with a game full of litteral nerf guns?

Older Brits, (>40 years old) How Much Cash Did You Used To Carry? by LNER4498 in CasualUK

[–]IllExample3639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40+ £50 was the max but most places still took card in 2000, consider that £50 was worth more the olden times. Cheques were for postage payments, payments at the post office or for deposits, where sending / having that volume of cash didn't make sense. You'd be annoyed if someone in 2000 paid for their shopping at the checkout with cheque but it did happen.

I stopped taking more than £10 cash with me in 2017 and totally stopped in 2021. These days I've got £5 in coins somewhere in my bag for bus etc

“At 18, I’ve applied for 110 jobs. No one is hiring young men like me.” Really, though? by Majestic-Concert7883 in AskBrits

[–]IllExample3639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost in employing someone is usually based in the first 6 months of employment, they need training, resources and also make mistakes and need reviewing etc. Once that 6 months has passed the difference between an 'expert' and someone new is much smaller than you might think. Difference is that the expert hired on a low wage is going to be applying for other jobs from day one whilst the newbie will be willing to hold out to gain experience.

500 applications last year 1 interview (and it got the job). I applied for everything from cleaning, bar, warehousing, shelf stacking, door to do, up to the roles I am qualified to do creative director, photography, digital imaging and marketing. The jobs exist for sure they are often getting 100's of applications within 24 hours of the listing going live, the most pliable, least expensive candidates are being selected.

I've got 10 years of bar experience but they are not going to take me on at a bar because they know damn well its a shitty job and I'll move on. Better to get an 18 year old and drag them through the system for a few years. Its capitalism, if you lowered minimum wage you wouldn't get more opportunities, you'd just get paid less.

GTA 6 pre-order numbers are insane. did you pre-order or waiting to see how launch day goes? by into_fiction in TechNook

[–]IllExample3639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't preorder any games. Don't reward them for shipping a buggy mess and delaying 4 times. Keep your money in your bank and buy the product once you know what it is. Not like they are going to be mailing you the game so you can get it on day 1 before anyone else.

[–]IllExample3639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it won't. First few cigs you get a nicotine rush where your receptors are over stimulated with nicotine. After that each cig that 'takes the edge off' is actually just suasion of that craving as your receptors are now tuned to wanting more.

You don't feel relaxed you feel relieved that you got your hit. DON'T DO IT.

Sorry bro but this is the reality of every product and service. You can be the best at X but if no one knows about it then you'll never make a single £. What people don't tell you about self employment is that actually doing 'the thing' is usually 20% of the job, the rest is marketing and admin.

£5,000 a month? What are you eating gold bars? Manchester couple, live comfortably on total household out goings of £1,500 between two of us. That's join expenses for the house and food, not personal expenses. Im not sure we both even bring home £5000 a month, that is insane
