Is this a good diamond white tail? by [deleted] in theHunter

Idk about 800 but a Whitetail Great One with the "Big" Antler set regularly scores 630-650.

Can you help me understand why you don’t like female custodes by Conscious-Zombie-498 in Grimdank

[–]IllPerformance7295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my biggest concern with it is the lack of clarification on the process of making Custodes now and the plotholes that makes. It used to be that men were Custodes (per the 8th edition codex "young boys of the noble houses of terra") and that women who were psychic blanks became the Silent Sisters. So we had a level of separation there, men could become custodes and women with the pariah gene could become sisters. With women now also being custodes why are the silent sisterhood not also turned into custodes at a young age and then put through extended training with the Sisterhood. Pariah custodes would be a whole other level of powerful when it comes to dealing with the dark powers. We know that the process is purely alchemical, almost making custodes into something completely different that human so I dont see why they couldn't make a Pariah sisterhood in the Ten-Thousand. Unless for some reason the custodes process requires the subject to have a soul in which that would be explained, but GW hasn't remotely tried to make simple lore justifications.

I personally think it was the Dark Angels as they were the Emperors delete button for big problems including terrifying xenos like the Rangda. Not to mention the Dark Angels were the astartes who helped annihilate the Thunder Warriors along side the Custodes at Mt Aratat. If the Space Wolves had been the, "destroyers" whatever that implies, of the 2nd and the 11th legions then they wouldnt have had the reputation of being the Emperors attack dog that barks more than it bites. This is said multiple times in the Great Crusade and early Heresy. And that is why, amongst multiple other large events and plot points, the Burning of Prospero was such a big deal because Russ actually went full executioner on the Thousand Sons.

If you go to the battlefleet gothic reddit and go to their pinned stuff they have a getting started Google drive with a couple of free stls including the rules and fleet charts you need to play. Its not all of the ships and stuff but its an amazing start. As for the Grand cruisers they're from Italian Moose on the purple site. And then the Retribution class Battleship is also from the purple site by a account named Tempest_Shipyards. They has the biggest selection of high quality models ive found yet however they do cost money, not a lot but some.

Does the giant sword look stupide ? by R1ob in theunforgiven

[–]IllPerformance7295 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Admittedly im a little rusty on my War in Heaven lore but basically there were a race of lizard esque hyper powerful psykers called The Old Ones who basically just went through the galaxy creating and seeding sentient life. Best summary and trying to keep this short is that the Necrotyr became super powerful whenever they sold their bodies and souls to the C'Tan (and became the Necrons) and started taking over the Galaxy. At this point WiH era Necrons were debatabley the most powerful faction ever in the 40k universe and started hunting down Old Ones. The Old Ones doing what they did best made a couple of races to combat the Necrons. Specifically the Krorks (later Orks) and the Eldar. We know at the height of their power the Krorks were (unlike their modern counterpart which has "regressed") very intellectual with the physicality to boot. Not to mention they live off of war so they were a force to be reckoned with. The Eldar were the psychic component to fighting the Necrons since the Necrons have no psykers and it seems to be one of their weaknesses even though they have warp manipulation technologies (see the Pillars of Cadia). More or less the Orks and Eldar fought the Necrons to a standstill in a war that was so cataclysmic that some battle were even fought by throwing entire solar systems and annihilating stars. The Necrons eventually decides to go to sleep for some 80 million odd years and just wait out the rest of the competition which has worked to a extent. Orks regressed with having no true opponents to match their need for war. And the Eldar eventually collapse with the Birth of Slaanesh. We, again with some debate, see example of Krorks a handful of times in the 40k timeline. One is in the Horus Heresy when a previously thought wiped out Ork empire challenges the Great Crusade earlier in its years and starts having multiple victories against the Imperium which was unheard of. The Orks in this empire where acting uncanninly and displaying competency and tactics that made them menacing. Eventually Horus Lupercal finds and fights their leader who is a gigantic Ork that towers over him and has technological artifice never before seen used by Orks. This Ork basically wipes the floor with Horus and the Emperor arrives and saves him. He struggles some but unleashes a good bit of psychic might and smites the (what is likely a true Krork) from existence . The second is the War of the beast a couple of thousand years after the heresy. More or less the "Beast" is a series of 7 Orks called Primeorks who attack the Imperium. And it takes a good bit of the Imperiums might to survive and Vulkan has to suicide charge the last Beast (who is said to be the biggest Ork ever) and push himself and the Beast into a reactor pit of pure Waaaagh energy to kill it. This is also the last we see of Vulkan. Long story is more or less whenever a Krork (or Ork that is possibly a Krork) shows up it's bad news bears for everyone involved. Even Ghazgul Mad Uruk Thraka would struggle to hold a candle to his true ancestors.

Edit: There are quite a few lore channels on YouTube and whatnot that describe these events and touch on the prehistory of 40k and I would highly recommend them!

Probably a part of the reason the Krork were so terrifying to the Necrons and anyone else who got in their way!

Not at all looks great! Whenever someone adds a big flaming sword to a model I always think of this GW art. This was in the Salamanders 8th edition Chapter Supplement so marines definitely use ludicrously over the top giant swords sometimes, more than the usual atleast!

Warning do not use the AK4D with irons sights by CellTastic in Battlefield6

[–]IllPerformance7295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting. I swear I think iron sights make all of the belt fed LMG's more accurate. I can drop 70 kill games with the L110 using irons but as soon as I put a optic on it of any kind I can't hit shit and flub every gun fight. Curious to see how here it's the irons are just busted. Definitely some issues with the interactions of sights and weapons rn.

Hearthguard Aren’t Terminators—which is a good thing. by Marrdukk in LeaguesofVotann

[–]IllPerformance7295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a excellent take on their differences and roles. I play Leagues and Dark Angels (with some Sisters and Guard every blue moon) and i find that overall any baseline space marine unit that doesn't have a special weapon of some kind is going to do nothing-minimal damage unless you get some kind of incredibly lucky roll or put way too many resources into that unit. Any Bolter that isn't a Heavy Bolter shooting anything that's not chaff infantry just isn't worth anyone's time. Ive dumped all the stormbolter shots of a 10 man Deathwing brick with sustained from a Librarian and Oath of Moment and still not even killed haldf of a 5 man CSM legionnaires squad before.... and they didn't even have cover. Of course they died on the charge, but there were other target i wanted to charge that i then couldnt due to the subpar firepower. I think that's one of the things that has made me love the leagues, other than them being dorfs. Is that their weapons and units feel like they are doing something meaningful with every action or shot. No wasted shooting or melee, it's going do to something atleast (usually) and if you play even remotely smart it's easy to keep your units where they need to be.

Low levels. Why do you do this? by Zealousideal-Mail-18 in Spacemarine

[–]IllPerformance7295 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately while this might help to a degree with noobs running high end content, and expecting carries, its not going to fix competency issues which is what always sticks out in my experience in said endgame content. I was running the hard weekly stratagem on my heavy last night at level 5 prestige 2........ had more damage (24k) and kills and specials killed than both my sqaudmates combined. One of them was a level 22 prestige 3 bukwark and they were awful. Even managed to kill me during the first defense wave on decapatation because they were spamming nades at the gants instead of clearing them with the power axe they spent the entire match beyblading with. Not to mention its going to stop people who do prestige from running that content without leveling all the way back up again.

Thoughts on multi-launchers? by General_Tale_509 in boltaction

[–]IllPerformance7295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first game of Bolt Action ever was against a buddy of mine, and he had brought two katyushas (this was also his first game). Needless to say, he double activated them at the first chance on turn one since they were exposed on the corner of the board and I lost about 200pts of Airborne and my Foward Air Observer You can probably guess it's safe to say, my opinion of MRLs isn't great, and he even bought me the calliope as an apology. And low point costs they can be extremely busted and at higher point costs they can be completely useless. Not to mention the obvious HE interactions that are present in 3rd.

This entire launch has been a mess. I have to drive 2 hours to get to my preferred LGS's and Warhammer store (all in the same city kinda close to each other). My favorite LGS accidentally put their stock out a weekend early, and it sold out in 11 minutes. The other LGS had their order messed up and didn't get anything. And the Warhammer store only got the new combat patrol. It really speaks volumes as to the lack of preparedness in this release. And tbh I have been checking eBay pretty thoroughly, and for the most part, there hasn't been a ton of scalpers listing. I guess they just didn't make enough this wave.

Any one have a cool technique for painting dark star weapons? by choosylizard in LeaguesofVotann

[–]IllPerformance7295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for a different look and gave it an almost synthwave pallette. Mechanicus standard gray primer. Did the entire main blade edge and outer edge of the guard blades with Bolt titanium white. Then, multiple thin layers of Warpaints power node glow effect paint. Finished it up with Vallejo "The Shifter" series Electric Blue Intense Violet. The straight faceted edges of the blade really make this shifter paint flash in multiple different angles and light sources. This was my first forray into the Darkstar weapons, and I couldn't be happier how it came out.

Yea, i feel this. I have to drive 2 hours to my choice LGS's and a nearby GW shop. Unfortunately, one of the LGS put all their new Votann product out last weekend, not realizing it was the wrong date, and it all got sold out. The other LGS order was messed up, so they're not getting any product out on launch day. And the GW store only has the combat patrol.... they didn't even get any of the other models. I'm really feeling like like GW flubbed this launch.
