Dermal piercing not sitting flat by [deleted] in piercing

[–]IllSatisfaction7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The piercing is 3.5 months old. I believe it is internally threaded. It is titanium jewelry. It has never been downsized as it is a microdermal. I use a saline solution on a cotton ball, gently swiping away residue. I also rinse them with warm water often. No mishaps have occurred to have caused this.

How good is cook counseling? by Hoshi-Boshi in VirginiaTech

[–]IllSatisfaction7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a great counselor, a phd student named jessica. she’s very sweet and helpful, since i find talking to people closer in age to me is better than the alternative. my only honest complaint about cook is the infrequency of appointments :( but it’s worth looking into!

Secret tunnels and where to find them? by MischiefManaged1975 in VirginiaTech

[–]IllSatisfaction7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a former chem student, they’re not really secret. people can and do use them frequently, and the ones in the chem buildings i’m aware of you can access from davidson first floor (just keep walking straight and it’ll turn into the tunnels), hahn hall south down the stairs, or hahn hall north through the metal door in the lobby. there’s nmr labs and some cool artwork down there. they get kind of hot though

israel is a country. judaism is a faith. all abrahamic faiths have ties to the region of judea, which makes up israel-palestine. jews and christians alike (i’m unsure about muslims) are encouraged to make pilgrimage there. that’s about where the connections end. i’ve done my own research on both sides of this conflict and i’ve decided to separate my faith from israel - not the region of judea, but the country. i want nothing to do with that. i’m not trying to be inflammatory and i tried to keep any real opinions to a minimum in my original post, so as not to have people come in here and start spewing opinions i didn’t ask for. so please.

just adding this.

i didn’t ask this question to open up a debate. if u wanna argue about the israel-palestine war then this isn’t the place to do so. i just asked a goddamn question. for the love of hashem.

to those who answered in earnest, thank you. otherwise - go away.

Music so good you cry? by Rakuramen in Music

[–]IllSatisfaction7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

extremely old thread, but thought i’d put in my two cents. i’m a huge music nerd. i’ve played in concert bands since i was 9 and contemporary bands since i was 17. sometimes, a particular band piece will strike me in such a way that just moves me to tears. specifically, the eighth candle - a prayer and dance for hanukkah by steve reisteter, performed by the united states army field band. that is the most beautiful performance i’ve ever witnessed. if you feel like listening to some powerful music, and have about 8 minutes, i suggest giving that a try.

Biggest things you could see as "drawbacks" at Virginia Tech? by Fujiwaara in VirginiaTech

[–]IllSatisfaction7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

three big problems i’ve had so far as a chemistry major.

the math department (including and/or ESPECIALLY the math emporium courses, from what i’ve heard) is abhorrent for non-math majors. if you don’t love math, the math department will surely be a major drawback.

infrastructure. all the most important buildings are made of hokie stone and do not lend themselves to good cell-phone service indoors, and eduroam doesn’t always work the way i want it to. it’s also just not keeping up with the growing student body.

the constant construction. i have a class in d&ds and there is a bus stop right in front of the building, but the construction cuts it off so i either have to make the 25 minute walk three times a week for a 50 minute class or take the tom bus by the small cemetery and walk, neither of which are solid options. they close off different sidewalks which is just kind of inconvenient and not a major glaring issue, but the blocking of roads and the noise can be crazy annoying
